This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Navigate intricate regulatory frameworks to assist the business in designing and implementing innovative financial products and services.
• Lead legal evaluations of product design, marketing, and customer onboarding processes to ensure compliance with relevant regulations while promoting business growth.
• Provide support for digital assets, payments, and data privacy matters as required.
• Offer advice on new or anticipated legal requirements and regulatory guidance as it pertains to systems, policies, and procedures.
• Keep track of regulatory developments at the SEC, FINRA, CFTC, FinCEN, OFAC, and other pertinent agencies and self-regulatory organizations.
• Assist the company in its interactions with regulators.
• Draft agreements, disclosures, policies, and procedures.
• Perform legal research and analysis on novel issues, providing practical guidance to internal stakeholders.
• Manage litigation, arbitration, and other disputes, including case strategy, outside counsel, claims, discovery, risk, and resolution options.
• Collaborate cross-functionally with Product, Brokerage, Crypto, Compliance, Anti-Money Laundering, Sales, and Success teams.
• J.D. degree (or its foreign equivalent) and active membership in at least one U.S. state bar.
• 5-7+ years of legal experience, with a minimum of 3 years focused on U.S. broker-dealer regulation, including the Securities Exchange Act of 1934, regulations and rules thereunder, FINRA rules, and other federal and state securities laws.
• Familiarity with U.S. cryptoasset regulatory frameworks, including SEC, CFTC, NYDFS, FinCEN, and AML requirements.
• Strong experience in advising fintechs or financial institutions, ideally in a startup or growth-stage environment.
• Proven ability to deliver strategic, business-oriented legal advice under tight deadlines.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, along with a practical, collaborative working style.
• Strong judgment, self-motivation, and the capability to work independently while managing multiple projects.
