This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Honduras, +4 more states.
• Ensure comprehensive and precise financial records for the firm’s IOLTA trust accounts and business operating accounts.
• Carefully execute trust transactions and maintain IOLTA records that are current, accurate, and fully traceable.
• Reconcile bank, trust, operating, and accounting records while promptly investigating and resolving discrepancies.
• Handle deposits, disbursements, transfers, invoices, expenses, and other financial transactions, ensuring supporting documentation is provided.
• Keep QuickBooks tidy and up to date.
• Generate recurring financial, reconciliation, and transaction reports utilizing QuickBooks and Microsoft Excel.
• Assist in month-end accounting activities by reviewing balances, organizing records, and completing necessary reconciliations.
• Collaborate with legal and operational team members when information, approvals, or corrections are required.
• Proactively identify unusual activities, missing documentation, or potential accounting issues and report them.
• Uphold strict confidentiality when managing client funds, financial records, settlement-related information, and internal business data.
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or completion of relevant accounting coursework.
• Prior hands-on accounting or bookkeeping experience within a U.S. law firm.
• Proven track record in managing both IOLTA trust accounts and business operating accounts.
• Advanced proficiency in QuickBooks, encompassing transactions, reconciliations, reports, and account records.
• Strong skills in Microsoft Excel, including formulas, reconciliations, data organization, and financial reporting.
• Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish.
• Solid understanding of accounting fundamentals.
• Ability to quickly learn new workflows, manage competing priorities, work independently, and maintain accuracy and confidentiality in a fast-paced legal environment.
• Nice to have: accounting experience in a personal injury law firm.
• Nice to have: experience assisting with month-end closing activities in a legal practice.
• Nice to have: familiarity with settlement-related transactions, client ledgers, or personal injury case accounting.
