Lead Workday Engineer – Integrations, Extend

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California, +5 more states.

📋 Description

• Architect, design, develop, test, implement, document, and support enterprise applications utilizing Workday Extend.

• Create scalable solutions leveraging Workday Extend, Orchestrate, APIs, Studio, Core Connectors, EIBs, and Workday Web Services.

• Develop reusable application frameworks, shared services, and engineering patterns.

• Establish technical architecture, security models, development standards, and engineering best practices.

• Collaborate with Product, Engineering, Security, and Business teams.

• Guide delivery within Agile engineering teams, encompassing backlog management, sprint planning, and iterative delivery.

• Advocate for Agile practices and continuous improvement through planning, estimation, retrospectives, delivery metrics, and operational excellence.

• Balance strategic projects, technical debt mitigation, operational support, and feature delivery.

• Analyze and enhance Workday business processes, integration workflows, and platform delivery processes.

• Identify workflow bottlenecks and automation prospects using Workday, AI, integrations, and reusable services.

• Set up engineering and operational workflows utilizing automation, observability, reusable components, and standardized practices.

• Assess emerging Workday capabilities and design prototype innovative solutions.

• Lead architecture reviews, code reviews, technical governance, and engineering quality across various teams.

• Propel platform modernization through AI, automation, observability, reusable components, and operational excellence.

• Address critical production issues, conduct root cause analysis, and pursue continuous platform enhancement.

⛳️ Requirements

• Extensive hands-on experience developing enterprise applications on the Workday platform.

• Strong proficiency and understanding of Workday Extend architecture, application lifecycle, security, user experience, and platform capabilities.

• Significant experience with Workday Integrations, including Studio, Orchestrate, Core Connectors, EIBs, APIs, and Workday Web Services.

• Advanced knowledge of REST APIs, SOAP, JSON, XML, XSLT, and enterprise integration patterns.

• Experience in defining enterprise architecture, reusable frameworks, engineering standards, and platform best practices.

• Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.

• Ability to influence stakeholders and effectively communicate with both technical and non-technical audiences.

• Experience mentoring engineers and leading enterprise technical initiatives across multiple teams.

• Familiarity with CI/CD, automation, AI-assisted development, monitoring, and modern software engineering practices.

• Workday Extend certification and Workday Integration certifications are highly preferred.

• Experience in Agile software delivery environments, involving backlog refinement, sprint planning, estimation, iterative delivery, and continuous improvement.

• Ability to prioritize competing initiatives while balancing strategic and operational tasks.

• Experience enhancing business processes, integration workflows, and operational procedures through automation and process optimization.

• Capable of identifying workflow inefficiencies and implementing scalable automation solutions.

• Responsible for information security, confidentiality, integrity, breach reporting, and mandatory security training.
