Lead Transmission Line Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Illinois.

📋 Description

• Lead and manage intricate transmission line designs from initial concept through to final design, which includes EFM, conductor sizing, induction, impedance, losses, and voltage drop analysis.

• Offer senior-level technical guidance and support to the design team.

• Conduct economic evaluations of conductors, lightning performance assessments, grounding calculations, and electrical clearance evaluations.

• Interpret and implement NERC, FERC, and regional regulatory standards.

• Prepare and assess specifications, data sheets, RFQs, bid evaluations, vendor drawings, and purchase recommendations.

• Collaborate with project managers on scopes, schedules, budgets, staffing plans, construction support, and change order management.

• Perform and review QA/QC for engineering deliverables, production drawings, CAD outputs, and construction administration tasks.

• Address and resolve design-related issues in the field.

• Conduct and lead field inspections, measurements, calculations, and installation assessments.

• Develop and present comprehensive technical reports.

• Assist in marketing and business development initiatives while fostering relationships with clients and contractors.

• Mentor and nurture less experienced engineers.

• Ensure effective cross-discipline communication and uphold company safety, quality, and performance standards.


⛳️ Requirements

• B.S. in Electrical, Civil, Mechanical, or Power Engineering (or a related field).

• Over 8 years of experience in transmission line engineering (design, analysis, modeling, or related fields).

• More than 8 years of experience working with an electric utility, EPC, or engineering consulting firm.

• At least 8 years of experience using PLS-CADD.

• Experience in people management and mentorship.

• Proven ability to direct and review the work of others for quality assurance while providing constructive feedback.

• Capability to plan and manage tasks effectively, while clearly communicating any barriers that may impact budget or schedule.

• Familiarity with NESC, IEEE, ANSI, FERC-881, and FAC-008 standards.
