Lead Substation Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Massachusetts.

📋 Description

• Lead the Substation Engineering team by providing project leadership.

• Oversee engineering activities related to projects.

• Create general arrangements for substations.

• Develop layout plans and sections for control houses.

• Design grounding systems, lightning protection, conduit/trench layouts, material lists, and construction specifications.

• Conduct calculations for grounding, lightning protection, voltage drop, AC/DC load studies, and other related studies and reports.

• Assist and coordinate engineering and design efforts concerning civil and structural elements of designs.

• Collaborate with the Protection Control Engineering team.

• Offer guidance and mentorship to the engineering and design team.

• Execute quality control and assurance reviews.

• Support projects from initial scoping through to final design and project closure.

• Provide assistance during the construction phase.

• Maintain a strong focus on client service and customer satisfaction.

⛳️ Requirements

• A Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering.

• Professional Engineering Licensure (PE) is mandatory; candidates with Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) on the path to obtaining PE licensure will be considered.

• At least ten (10) years of experience in the electric utility sector.

• Direct involvement in substation projects for electric utilities.

• Experience in utility substation engineering, particularly focusing on electrical or physical design aspects.

• Strong project management skills with the ability to adhere to tight deadlines.

• Proficiency in AutoCAD and/or MicroStation is advantageous.

• Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.

• Capacity to engage with clients and collaborate with other disciplines.

• A proactive team player capable of instilling client confidence.
