Lead Software Engineer – Team Lead

πŸ“‹ Description

β€’ Act as the technical lead for a specific area or service within the retail service cloud, guiding architectural direction and ensuring quality standards are upheld.

β€’ Design, develop, and deliver features while actively engaging in coding activities alongside the team on a daily basis.

β€’ Recognize and address technical challenges throughout the stack, focusing on profiling, refactoring, and scaling the platform.

β€’ Replace outdated code and services with modern, maintainable solutions, enhancing the overall system architecture.

β€’ Create frameworks and reusable patterns for future projects within the portfolio.

β€’ Strategize and communicate product roadmaps, manage sprint tickets, and assertively address requests when technical tradeoffs are necessary.

β€’ Guide junior engineers through code reviews, collaborative coding sessions, and practical problem-solving.

β€’ Enhance developer productivity and play a role in recruitment decisions.

β€’ Deliver significant platform enhancements, transition targeted legacy services, and establish clear technical standards within the initial 6–12 months.


⛳️ Requirements

β€’ Extensive hands-on experience with TypeScript/JavaScript, React, and Node.js.

β€’ Proficiency and production experience with API Gateway, AWS Lambda, S3, and DynamoDB.

β€’ Familiarity with IAM and CloudWatch for debugging and implementing least-privilege design.

β€’ Experience with Python and Django or similar server-side frameworks.

β€’ Proven track record of technically owning a product or service area, including making architecture decisions, ensuring code quality, and achieving delivery outcomes.

β€’ Demonstrated capability to mentor and uplift fellow engineers while maintaining a strong individual contributor role.

β€’ Experience in replacing or modernizing legacy systems within a production setting.

β€’ Comfort in managing competing priorities, planning sprints, and conveying technical details to non-technical stakeholders.

β€’ Strong views on code quality and engineering best practices, while remaining open to collaborative solutions.

β€’ Preferred: experience in retail, e-commerce, or multi-brand platform settings.

β€’ Preferred: knowledge of cloud-native architectures and microservices patterns.

β€’ Preferred: previous experience in a technical lead position on a small, high-performing team.
