Lead Software Engineer, Go

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Canada.

📋 Description

• Develop the technology that drives DraftKings Exchange, a business sector that merges technology, financial markets, and entertainment.

• Design, construct, and uphold highly scalable backend services using Go for financial exchange functionalities.

• Create distributed systems that facilitate high-volume, low-latency transaction processing and real-time market activities.

• Collaborate with Product, Data, Trading Operations, and Engineering teams to implement exchange features and capabilities.

• Contribute to the architecture and advancement of core platform services.

• Enhance system performance through design, profiling, testing, and ongoing improvements.

• Establish engineering best practices through code reviews, technical mentorship, and collaborative problem-solving.

• Address complex production issues and enhance observability, monitoring, and system reliability.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or an equivalent combination of education, experience, and training.

• A minimum of 6 years of professional software engineering experience in developing and operating backend systems within production settings.

• Proficiency in Golang is essential.

• Practical experience with FIX protocol connectivity in automated trading, exchange, or market data systems.

• Experience in designing and constructing distributed systems with a focus on scalability, resilience, and performance.

• Solid understanding of concurrency, asynchronous processing, and system design principles applicable to high-throughput applications.

• Familiarity with cloud-native architectures, microservices, APIs, and contemporary infrastructure platforms.

• Skill in relational and NoSQL database technologies.

• Knowledge of performance optimization, monitoring strategies, and operational best practices for mission-critical systems.

• Previous experience in developing financial exchanges, trading platforms, market infrastructure, or other high-frequency transaction systems is highly preferred.

• May need to obtain a gaming license issued by the relevant state agency as a condition of employment.
