This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Florida, +3 more states.
• Design, construct, test, and consistently deliver new features and products for claims services.
• Standardize software quality assurance practices.
• Lead and mentor a team of software engineers throughout the software development lifecycle.
• Offer technical guidance, support, and expertise.
• Supervise testing and debugging processes and develop solutions.
• Investigate complaints and make adjustments or recommendations to address complex software issues.
• Conduct code reviews and provide constructive feedback.
• Ensure compliance with coding standards, design principles, and quality guidelines.
• Advise leadership on functional strategies and significant matters.
• Exercise independent judgment and decision-making on complex issues.
• Collaborate with an agile team to develop modernized claims ecosystems utilizing software stacks and cloud technologies.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field.
• Eight or more years of progressive IT experience as a senior developer in substantial IT projects.
• Two or more years of experience in project leadership.
• Five or more years of experience in designing, developing, and testing software applications and/or infrastructure.
• Proven history of leading and delivering complex projects from inception to completion.
• Strong foundation in software development, programming, software architecture, design patterns, and development methodologies.
• Experience in developing cloud solutions for large-scale enterprises.
• Familiarity with Java Spring Boot development in public or private cloud environments.
• Knowledge of microservice architecture and cloud design patterns.
• Three to five years of experience in Java, Spring Boot, and Spring Batch.
• Three to five years of experience in REST API development.
• Experience with NoSQL databases, preferably MongoDB.
• Hands-on experience with Azure or familiarity with AWS, GCP, or PCF.
• Understanding of DevOps processes, CI/CD, and automation.
• Experience in a Scrum/Agile environment.
• Experience using AI code-assist tools such as Windsurf, GitHub Copilot, Claude, or similar platforms.
• Ability to advocate for responsible AI-assisted engineering practices while ensuring code quality, security, maintainability, and compliance.
• Strong communication, mentoring, collaboration, problem-solving, and critical-thinking skills.
• Commitment to continuous learning and professional growth.
• Must currently reside within a 60-minute commuting distance of, or be willing to relocate to, Louisville, KY; Dallas/Frisco, TX; Tampa/Ft. Lauderdale, FL; or Nashville, TN.
• Must work from a dedicated workspace without ongoing interruptions to protect PHI/HIPAA information.
• Internet connection with a minimum of 25 Mbps download and 10 Mbps upload speed.
• Preferred: Master's degree; experience in frontend and backend development; knowledge of Kafka; Kubernetes/containerization; Angular or React; Azure certification.
