This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Supervise field survey teams in data centers, central offices, and various telecommunications facilities.
• Conduct job-start walkthroughs with clients and end users to verify survey scope, deliverables, access, work limitations, and safety protocols.
• Execute and lead surveys of transmission, data and cloud equipment, AC/DC power, UPS and battery systems, fiber and copper cabling, pathways, grounding, and supervisory or alarm systems.
• Record equipment inventories, rack elevations, fiber and copper counts, cable connections, pathway measurements, power-source identification, and grounding observations.
• Interpret job specifications, floor plans, equipment diagrams, wiring schematics, MOPs, and testing records.
• Document any inconsistencies between field conditions and existing records.
• Prepare comprehensive survey packages that include templates, labeled photo logs, annotated drawings, equipment and cable schedules, discrepancies, constraints, and unresolved inquiries.
• Delegate daily tasks, oversee survey team members, coordinate site access and escorts, conduct safety briefings, and monitor progress.
• Provide updates on completed and outstanding work, along with issues impacting completion.
• Review field documentation for precision, thoroughness, and adherence to customer standards.
• Conduct in-process and final quality assessments of survey deliverables and assigned installation tasks.
• Carry out designated equipment, wiring, circuit, software, testing, turn-up, and integration tasks.
• Oversee high-risk activities, hot cuts, and cutovers; assign crew duties; liaise with customers; correct drawings; and perform quality inspections.
• Manage daily survey operations, crew assignments, customer interactions, and survey package integrity.
• Identify discrepancies, access limitations, and execution risks, escalating items that require engineering or customer input.
• Collaborate with customers, vendors, engineering, and project management to address scope or drawing inquiries.
• Maintain company and customer records, drawing updates, schedules, MOPs, risk documentation, test records, and completion reports.
• Review the time and expense documentation of assigned team members.
• High School Diploma or GED.
• At least eight years of relevant experience in telecommunications installation, site survey, or engineering, or an equivalent combination of training and experience as determined by company management.
• Previous field leadership experience is essential.
• Strong understanding of telecommunications installation techniques, low- and high-density fiber systems, copper cabling, AC/DC power, UPS and battery systems, infrastructure, and supervisory or alarm systems.
• Familiarity with fiber installation practices and experience in fiber, copper, and coaxial cable testing.
• Capability to read, follow, and create MOPs while understanding the risks associated with working near live equipment.
• Proficient in laptop usage, including Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and Teams.
• Ability to complete electronic survey templates, organize photographs, and maintain drawing markups.
• Excellent verbal and written communication abilities.
• Competence in leading a field crew and independently generating accurate survey documentation with minimal oversight.
• Skill in identifying and documenting power sources and distribution infrastructure.
• Valid driver's license is mandatory.
• Must comply with applicable pre-employment background checks and company vehicle insurability standards.
• Capability to lift 50 pounds and engage in significant walking, ladder climbing, and standing.
• Ability to push/pull equipment weighing up to 50 lbs. through assigned facilities.
• Skill in interpreting written, verbal, and diagram-based instructions, exercising sound judgment, and resolving field issues through established processes.
• Ability to understand and adhere to company and customer policies, safety protocols, and site access requirements.
• Ability to access confined workspaces, with or without reasonable accommodation.
• Must be available to work various shifts.
• Technical training in telecommunications, electronics, or a related field is preferred.
