Lead Product Designer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California.

📋 Description

• Lead the design efforts for the platform’s most intricate, cross-functional challenges, guiding the process from discovery and research to delivery and iteration.

• Transform vague problems and emerging business areas into well-defined product strategies.

• Collaborate with product teams, client success, and sales to harmonize user requirements with business objectives.

• Create data-intensive workflows that empower underwriters to identify critical information and make confident decisions.

• Define the integration of AI within the product, focusing on conveying confidence, highlighting sources, and ensuring underwriters maintain control.

• Develop scalable frameworks for expanding business lines while preserving a cohesive user experience.

• Leverage AI and rapid prototyping tools to transition from initial ideas to validated concepts.

• Elevate design standards through critique, mentorship, and shared design principles.

• Work in tandem with the current Lead Designer, product managers, and engineering teams.

• Report directly to the Head of Product.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 7 years of experience in designing digital products for B2B, data-rich, or productivity-focused companies.

• Proven experience in a rapidly scaling startup environment with a strong sense of ownership.

• Experience in designing AI-driven applications.

• Demonstrated ability to enhance an existing platform by generalizing and scaling user experiences to accommodate new and evolving workflows.

• A robust portfolio that highlights the ability to simplify complexity, create thoughtful UIs, and implement clear interaction patterns.

• Strong systems thinking skills, with a track record of shaping and contributing to design systems.

• Exceptional visual design skills and meticulous attention to detail, especially regarding information hierarchy, interaction, and layout.

• Outstanding communication and teamwork abilities.

• A curious and flexible mindset for tackling ambiguous challenges.

• Familiarity with MUI (Material UI) or comparable design systems is a plus.

• Experience in InsurTech, FinTech, or other highly-regulated sectors is advantageous.

• A technical background or interest in product development is an added benefit.
