This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
β’ Manage a team of 5β10 members, which includes both full-time and part-time staff.
β’ Conduct internal quality audits to guarantee the accuracy of cancer registry data, maintaining a minimum standard of 90% accuracy.
β’ Address all data discrepancies within five business days.
β’ Allocate case assignments to team members in accordance with VISN/VAMC requirements.
β’ Record weekly log totals and monitor team progress through Jira to ensure that deliverables align with PWS timelines.
β’ Act as the main point of contact for team Oncology Data Specialists (ODSs).
β’ Troubleshoot technical or procedural challenges related to VA systems, Directives, and policies.
β’ Assist in the preparation of the Monthly Program Report, which includes Quality Control findings and workforce staffing updates.
β’ Provide supervisory and technical guidance for Oncology Data Specialists supporting the VA Cancer Registry System.
β’ Ensure precise and timely casefinding, data curation/abstraction, and disease surveillance/follow-up, compliant with CoC and NOPO standards.
β’ Minimum of 3 years of experience as an Oncology Data Specialist (ODS); 5+ years is strongly preferred.
β’ At least 1 year of experience in a leadership or supervisory position.
β’ Experience within the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) healthcare system is highly desirable.
β’ Must possess a current, valid Oncology Data Specialist (ODS-C) credential from the National Cancer Registrars Association (NCRA).
β’ Proof of maintained certification must be submitted annually.
β’ Expert-level understanding of CoC data standards, AJCC staging protocols, and SEER standards.
β’ Familiarity with VA-specific registry software and database systems.
β’ Working knowledge of Jira for task management and project tracking is preferred.
β’ Capability to strictly comply with Federal security and privacy regulations (Privacy Act, HIPAA) and VA sensitive information policies.
