This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Oversee daily Health Information Management (HIM) workflow and manage chart requests, retrieval, re-filing, loose document filing, purging, driving processes, and preparation for shipment.
• Organize and prioritize work assignments to adhere to established deadlines.
• Track workloads and inform management of any potential backlogs or operational issues.
• Act as the initial point of contact and resource for team members concerning HIM processes.
• Provide coverage for the department during staffing shortages.
• Aid in locating missing charts and resolving workflow challenges.
• Assist with special projects as requested by HIM leadership or administration.
• Support the onboarding, training, and cross-training of HIM staff.
• Conduct weekly audits of quality and productivity.
• Record audit results, identify trends and opportunities for improvement, and relay findings to management.
• Maintain daily productivity and audit metrics.
• Ensure the protection of patient information and compliance with HIPAA and organizational privacy policies.
• Provide assistance to customers, colleagues, care providers, and internal stakeholders regarding HIM-related inquiries.
• Answer department phone calls and deliver professional service.
• Carry out other related tasks and special projects as assigned.
• Experience in Health Information Management, medical records, or a similar healthcare setting.
• A desire to develop a long-term career in Health Information Management.
• Currently enrolled in or interested in enrolling in an RHIT program.
• Strong comprehension of HIM workflows, including chart retrieval, filing, record maintenance, and associated processes.
• Ability to prioritize conflicting responsibilities and adapt workflows based on departmental requirements.
• Excellent attention to detail and a dedication to accuracy and quality.
• Capability to monitor productivity and quality metrics while identifying areas for enhancement.
• Strong communication and interpersonal abilities.
• Proficient in training, coaching, and supporting team members with daily processes.
• Good judgment when addressing confidential or unusual requests.
• Familiarity with HIPAA requirements and safeguarding confidential health information.
• Ability to work autonomously and contribute positively as part of a team.
• Strong organizational and problem-solving capabilities.
