Lead Forward Deployed Engineer, AI Enablement

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Take ownership of the vision for how applied AI addresses business challenges at Reddit.

• Identify opportunities where AI can add value, establish technical direction, and transform the vision into production capabilities.

• Develop AI applications, agents, skills, connectors, and automation workflows.

• Convert unclear business challenges into AI-native workflows and detailed technical delivery plans.

• Collaborate with internal teams, business leaders, and the AI Platform team.

• Gain an understanding of functional goals, workflows, systems, data, and measures of success.

• Prototype workflows within a few days and productionize priority workflows within weeks, when possible.

• Integrate approved data, tools, APIs, and actions into secure end-to-end workflows.

• Establish evaluations, review gates, human-in-the-loop controls, observability, and evidence protocols.

• Launch trusted production workflows with governance, support, reversibility, and designated ownership.

• Transfer maintainable workflows to function owners to decrease long-term team dependency.

• Relay recurring needs, obstacles, and infrastructure requirements back to the AI Platform Hub.

• Transform local successes into reusable agents, skills, templates, connectors, playbooks, and platform patterns.

• Keep abreast of developments in AI models, agents, tools, and deployment practices.

• Organize and sequence the work of engineers, providing clarity on ownership, dependencies, and milestones.

• Mentor engineers and technical leads through design and code reviews.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 8 years of experience in software development, including automation, workflows, AI applications, agents, or internal tools.

• Strong foundation in software engineering and production judgment; adept at navigating ambiguous business and technical challenges.

• Experience with MCP, reusable tool integrations, and enterprise identity and access protocols.

• Proficient in integrating APIs, data systems, enterprise tools, and workflow actions.

• Hands-on experience in building and deploying AI agents, including tool usage, orchestration, state management, and failure handling; production experience with LLM involving retrieval, structured outputs, evaluations, monitoring, and controls.

• Proven technical leadership and product judgment demonstrated through architectural decisions, reviews, mentoring, and influence across teams.

• Capacity to prioritize ambiguous opportunities and articulate technical, business, and operational tradeoffs.

• Experience in creating a component, engineering practice, or architectural pattern that has been adopted beyond your immediate project.

• Ability to build trust with business stakeholders and establish clear decisions, responsibilities, and success metrics.
