This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Texas.
• Execute both scheduled and unscheduled maintenance as well as repairs on switcher and local locomotives.
• Comply with the company's safety protocols and adhere to relevant local, state, and federal regulations regarding locomotive maintenance and repairs.
• Support fellow team members and complete special projects as directed.
• Perform fueling, sanding, and daily inspections of locomotives.
• Carry out preventive maintenance tasks in accordance with set schedules.
• Clean oil, refill tanks, and adjust equipment to ensure smooth functioning.
• Conduct basic repairs on various equipment and machinery.
• Diagnose and repair diesel engines, electrical systems, and air brake systems.
• Execute field service operations utilizing company vehicles.
• Travel to various locations within and around the Bronx, New York, to fulfill field maintenance responsibilities.
• Perform routine visual inspections of maintenance equipment and company vehicles.
• Assist the maintenance team with tasks following established procedures, policies, and safety regulations.
• Accurately complete maintenance records in a timely manner.
• Update maintenance logs and sign off on completed work orders.
• Maintain effective communication and coordination with area personnel.
• Complete maintenance tasks promptly to satisfy customer requirements.
• Propose improvements to operational processes.
• Keep management updated on area activities and significant equipment issues.
• Ensure a clean, secure, and well-maintained work environment.
• Stay current on maintenance requirements.
• Undertake special projects as assigned.
• High school diploma or equivalent certification.
• Training in maintenance and repair operations may be necessary.
• Safety certification may be required.
• Basic knowledge of mechanics is essential.
• Familiarity with machine testing procedures is preferred.
• Understanding of equipment maintenance requirements is necessary.
• At least one year of experience in diesel engine or electrical repairs.
• Strong attention to detail.
• Capability to schedule work effectively.
• Strong problem-solving abilities.
• Good oral communication skills.
• Proficient in using related mechanical and testing equipment.
• Competency with computers and office equipment, including MS Office.
• Must be legally authorized to work in the U.S.
• Successful completion of a drug screening may be required.
• Successful completion of a fitness-for-duty test may be required.
