This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Establish the technical strategy for systems that facilitate checkout, order creation, lifecycle management, fulfillment orchestration, and integrations with both internal and external partners.
• Lead intricate Order Management projects from the initial discovery and technical design phase through implementation, production launch, and post-launch analysis.
• Develop and construct dependable, stateful services and workflows with an emphasis on correctness, data consistency, scalability, and robust failure and recovery mechanisms.
• Assess and document various technical options, constraints, and trade-offs.
• Maintain a balance between immediate delivery and long-term maintainability, system simplification, technical debt reduction, and engineering efficiency.
• Collaborate with Product, Engineering, Inventory, Fulfillment, Client Experience, Operations, and other cross-functional teams.
• Define project scope, milestones, estimates, dependencies, success metrics, and potential delivery risks.
• Build, manage, and continuously enhance mission-critical systems utilizing the engineering ecosystem.
• Enhance engineering and operational excellence through automated testing, observability, safe rollout and rollback strategies, incident management, remediation, code reviews, design evaluations, and mentorship.
• Leverage AI-assisted development tools for discovery, implementation, testing, debugging, documentation, and problem resolution.
• Assess and integrate AI capabilities, engineering tools, and technologies that boost productivity, reliability, and quality of delivery.
• Over 5 years of experience in software engineering.
• Proven experience in building and managing complex, business-critical backend systems, distributed systems, or workflow systems with stringent correctness and availability standards.
• Proficiency in at least one modern programming language, including but not limited to Go, Ruby, Java, or Python.
• Willingness to learn and work across multiple programming languages.
• Extensive experience with relational databases such as PostgreSQL or MySQL, encompassing data modeling, transactional semantics, schema evolution, and performance considerations.
• Experienced in operating services on major cloud platforms such as AWS, GCP, or Azure.
• Demonstrated ability to independently lead complex, multi-sprint projects from discovery and design to launch and operational follow-up.
• Capable of translating ambiguity into clear technical guidance and measurable results.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to translate technical complexities into business outcomes.
• Effective collaboration with Product, Engineering, Operations, and both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Capacity to mentor engineers and elevate the technical standards.
• Appreciation for automated testing, continuous delivery, observability, safe releases, reliability, and learning from incidents.
• Proficiency with AI-assisted software development tools such as ChatGPT, GitHub Copilot, or similar technologies.
• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• Preferred: experience in e-commerce, order management, payments, inventory, logistics, fulfillment, or other high-throughput transactional domains.
• Preferred: experience in designing third-party integrations and managing partial failures, latency, consistency, recovery, and operational constraints related to partners.
• Preferred: familiarity with Golang, Ruby on Rails, PostgreSQL, AWS, Kafka, Temporal, and Datadog.
