Lead Engineer – Network Observability

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in India.

📋 Description

• Take ownership of and enhance a multi-year observability maturity roadmap for the global network.

• Design and implement unified observability solutions that integrate various monitoring platforms.

• Establish predictive alerting and anomaly detection features.

• Develop observability use cases that align with business objectives.

• Set and promote observability best practices and standards across different regions.

• Assess emerging technologies in observability and AIOps.

• Create analytics workflows that merge wire data, infrastructure metrics, and flow analysis.

• Construct predictive capacity planning models using historical performance data.

• Generate executive-level dashboards that link network health with business results.

• Develop anomaly detection algorithms and behavioral baseline analytics.

• Create cross-tool correlation logic to expedite root cause analysis.

• Enhance visualization strategies across reporting platforms.

• Lead portfolio rationalization and cost optimization reviews for tools.

• Develop business cases and ROI models for investments in observability.

• Measure monitoring value using metrics like uptime, MTTR, and cost avoidance.

• Direct proof-of-concept assessments for observability technologies.

• Evaluate build-versus-buy options for observability platforms.

• Act as the senior technical representative on observability within the global network organization.

• Collaborate with regional network teams to ensure consistent implementation of observability standards.

• Partner with the NOC to operationalize telemetry, health checks, and alerting processes.

• Present the observability strategy, roadmap, and business impact to executive stakeholders.


⛳️ Requirements

• 10–15+ years of experience in network engineering, with a strong focus on observability, monitoring architecture, or network analytics.

• Proven experience in architecting observability solutions across multiple platforms in a large, multi-site setting.

• In-depth knowledge of routing, switching, and SD-WAN technologies.

• Familiarity with NetScout, DX NetOps, NetFlow, Grafana, PowerBI, or similar platforms.

• Experience in developing predictive or anomaly detection capabilities.

• Proven track record in creating business cases, ROI models, and executive-level communications regarding infrastructure investments.

• Strong stakeholder management skills, particularly with regional teams.

• A bachelor's degree in Network Engineering or a related field is required, or equivalent experience.

• Relevant certifications include CCIE, CCDE, F5/load-balancer certification, and SNIA Storage Networking Certificate.

• Ability to follow instructions and seek clarification when needed.

• Competence in performing basic mathematical calculations.

• High attention to detail and accuracy.

• Strong communication skills, capable of delivering formal presentations.

• Ability to engage effectively with all management levels.

• Skills in negotiation and persuasive communication.

• Strong multicultural interpersonal, leadership, organizational, and time-management abilities.

• Capacity to work under pressure and meet deadlines.

• Commitment to maintaining confidentiality and organizational standards.

• Proficiency in working independently with minimal supervision.

• Ability to cultivate effective working relationships.

• Quick learner of new systems and technology.

• Advanced proficiency in relevant computer applications.

• Flexibility for non-standard work hours or overtime as needed for business demands.

• Availability for on-call duties as required.

• Willingness to travel as necessary.
