Lead Director – AI FinOps

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Arizona, +17 more states.

📋 Description

• Create and develop the enterprise AI FinOps program from scratch.

• Set up operating models, governance frameworks, and adoption roadmaps across Engineering, Finance, and Product departments.

• Formulate and implement AI cost governance processes, which encompass tagging, allocation policies, anomaly detection, budget controls, and automated reporting.

• Design and execute chargeback and showback models to distribute AI expenses among business units, products, and teams.

• Oversee the evaluation, selection, and deployment of AI FinOps tools across AWS, Azure, GCP, and third-party AI vendors.

• Provide executive-level financial reporting and insights regarding AI cost data and unit economics.

• Collaborate with Engineering, Procurement, and Finance leadership to enhance AI expenditures.

• Establish and manage an AI FinOps Center of Excellence.

• Define roles, processes, and scalable governance policies.

• Act as the internal subject matter expert and advocate for AI financial accountability.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 10 years of experience in FinOps, cloud financial management, technology finance, or a similar field within large-scale enterprise settings.

• More than 5 years of experience in developing and scaling FinOps programs from the ground up.

• At least 5 years of experience in designing and operationalizing comprehensive FinOps tools and processes.

• Minimum of 2 years of experience in AI cost governance.

• A minimum of 2 years of experience in implementing chargeback and showback models.

• At least 2 years of experience providing executive-level financial insights.

• A minimum of 2 years of experience working with enterprise AI services, such as AWS Bedrock, Azure AI, Vertex AI, or comparable platforms.

• At least 2 years of experience analyzing and optimizing AI workload unit economics, including cost-per-inference, cost-per-token, and GPU/TPU utilization efficiency.

• Experience in managing LLM and API-driven AI expenses, as well as self-hosted model infrastructure.

• Experience in establishing a FinOps and/or AI Center of Excellence.

• Familiarity with regulated industries; knowledge of HIPAA is a plus.

• Experience in creating executive-level financial dashboards utilizing Tableau, Power BI, or Looker.

• A bachelor's degree from an accredited institution or equivalent work experience (high school diploma + 4 years of relevant experience).

• Exceptional stakeholder management and communication abilities, with the capacity to influence without direct authority across Engineering, Finance, and Product teams.
