Lead DevOps Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Take ownership of the DevOps technical roadmap and vision, ensuring alignment with business objectives.

• Develop reusable infrastructure-as-code modules, pipeline templates, reference architectures, and engineering standards.

• Be responsible for platform reliability, security posture, delivery velocity, SLIs, SLOs, and error budgets.

• Represent the DevOps practice during client discovery and pre-sales discussions, estimate infrastructure workstreams, and provide guidance to client leadership.

• Conduct interviews and evaluate DevOps candidates while contributing to team structure and capability development.

• Design and implement cloud infrastructure across AWS, Azure, and GCP platforms.

• Architect and manage Kubernetes and other container platforms.

• Define landing zones, account or subscription architectures, and network topologies.

• Own the CI/CD strategy, pipeline architecture, automation-first delivery, and GitOps workflows.

• Establish an observability strategy that encompasses monitoring, logging, and tracing.

• Lead incident response initiatives, on-call practices, post-incident reviews, capacity planning, scalability, disaster recovery, backups, and multi-region planning.

• Integrate DevSecOps security standards, support compliance efforts, and promote cloud cost optimization and FinOps practices.

• Mentor and guide engineers, review infrastructure code and pipeline modifications, and offer technical leadership.

• Drive continuous improvement by tracking DORA metrics, facilitating lessons-learned meetings, and staying updated on industry practices.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field is preferred.

• Over 8 years of experience in DevOps, SRE, platform, or infrastructure engineering roles.

• At least 2 years of experience leading teams or managing the DevOps function for multiple products or clients.

• Extensive hands-on experience with at least two major cloud providers (AWS, Azure, GCP) and a working knowledge of the third.

• In-depth experience with infrastructure as code and configuration management tools, including Terraform and Ansible.

• Skilled in scripting and automation using Python, Bash, or Go.

• Strong foundation in cloud security, IAM, networking, and compliance-driven environments.

• Proven experience in mentoring and developing engineering teams.

• Exceptional communication skills suitable for both technical and business audiences.

• Familiarity with agile development methodologies.

• Collaborative and client-facing approach, with the ability to advise senior client stakeholders.

• Relevant technology certifications are advantageous, including those from AWS, Azure, Google Cloud, or CKA certifications.
