DevSecOps Engineer – Mid

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California, +2 more states.

📋 Description

• Assist in the design and engineering of a DevOps Platform tailored for software development, systems engineering, integration, and testing within a diverse environment serving the United States Navy.

• Create GitLab CI/CD pipelines.

• Design, construct, and uphold modular, reusable Infrastructure as Code configurations utilizing Terraform across cloud platforms like AWS.

• Automate configurations within Kubernetes.

• Facilitate cloud networking and routing for DNS, TLS, and ingress/egress functionalities.

• Maintain and enhance base images.

• Aid in the development and documentation of risk assessment results and recommendations for cloud environments.

• Conduct both automated and manual validation of Information Assurance Controls and Validation Procedures in accordance with DoD Guidelines, CNSSI 1253, and/or NIST 800 publications.

• Execute validation, troubleshooting, and documentation for DevSecOps engineering initiatives.

• Document processes and services for cloud application development teams.

• Engage in Agile processes to outline tasks, articulate technical solutions, and test deployed systems.

• Investigate quality-review issues and devise solutions.

• Utilize scripting and automation to oversee infrastructure management.

• Contribute to technical assessments regarding system costs, efficiency, and security posture.

• Formulate system infrastructure testing protocols, programming, and documentation.

• Identify opportunities to enhance system and product offerings.

• Collaborate with technical writers on documentation relevant to customers.

• Coordinate with project teams to guarantee adherence to policies, quality objectives, and scheduling milestones.

⛳️ Requirements

• A minimum of six (6) years of experience, encompassing at least three of the following areas: Systems or Software requirements, design, development, verification and validation/test and evaluation, integration, build and deployment; systems administration; information assurance; business analysis; integrated development environment tools; and online/end-user documentation for C4ISR systems or other federal agency IT systems.

• US Citizenship is required.

• Must possess DoD8570-compliant certifications (Security+ and OS) for privileged access to MIP.

• A valid CompTIA Security+ or equivalent certification (minimum DoD 8570.1-M IAT Level II), or the ability to obtain one within a reasonable timeframe.

• High School diploma or GED.

• Technical Training in Information Technology (IT) or Software Application Development.

• At least 2+ years of related IT experience, including DevOps/DevSecOps Engineering, CI/CD, Build & Release, SRE, Operations Engineering, Systems Integration Engineering, and/or Cloud Administration.

• Prior experience in evaluating/assessing systems within Government Cloud environments using DevSecOps principles with Continuous Security.

• Strong knowledge of Infrastructure as Code, preferably with hands-on experience in Terraform, AWS CloudFormation, or similar technologies.

• Experience with Docker and Rancher, Kubernetes, OpenShift, Fargate, or comparable container orchestration tools.

• Proficient in infrastructure automation and DevOps integration.

• Experience in developing and managing Continuous Integration and Continuous Delivery environments.

• Minimum active Interim Secret Clearance (DoD) / Favorable T3 Equivalent Background Investigation, or the ability to secure a Favorable T5 Equivalent Background Investigation.

• Willingness to travel four times a year, once each quarter, and as needed for additional requirements.

• Desired: hands-on experience with Jenkins, GitLab, HashiCorp Vault, Argo CD, Red Hat Enterprise Linux, and Amazon EKS.

• Desired: strong understanding and background with DISA STIGs.
