Lead Developer – PHP, C#

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Germany.

📋 Description

• Lead the technical efforts in the ongoing enhancement of backend systems and influence future architectural designs.

• Evaluate the current system landscape, uncover technological potentials, and create scalable, sustainable solution architectures.

• Design and develop robust backend components and APIs utilizing PHP/Symfony and C#/.NET.

• Collaborate with the team to make architectural and technological decisions, ensuring consistent execution.

• Assist in transitioning on-premises solutions to contemporary cloud architectures.

• Formulate strategies for the incremental modernization of systems.

• Set and enhance technical standards regarding code quality, testing, performance, security, and maintainability.

• Conduct code reviews and assist colleagues with complex development challenges.

• Investigate intricate bugs and performance or stability issues, developing sustainable resolutions.

• Advocate for the strategic application of Generative AI in code generation, refactoring, test case creation, documentation, and quality assurance.

• Offer technical guidance and mentoring to developers, fostering the team’s ongoing development.

• Optimize MySQL and PostgreSQL databases to enhance performance, maintainability, and scalability.

• Collaborate closely with product management and other stakeholders to ensure that technical decisions provide clear value to customers.

⛳️ Requirements

• A completed degree or vocational training in computer science, business informatics, or a similar qualification.

• Several years of experience in developing complex backend systems, along with experience in a technical leadership capacity, such as Lead Developer, Tech Lead, or Software Architect.

• Strong proficiency in PHP 8.x and Symfony 7.x+, as well as RESTful API development.

• Alternatively, excellent knowledge of C# and .NET 8+, preferably with experience in Entity Framework Core.

• In-depth experience with software architecture, design patterns, Clean Code principles, and modernizing legacy applications.

• Familiarity with unit and integration testing, particularly PHPUnit and PHPStan/xUnit and Roslyn, as well as CI/CD pipelines.

• Good understanding of Docker and Kubernetes, alongside knowledge of modern, scalable cloud architectures.

• Solid experience with MySQL and/or PostgreSQL, including performance optimization techniques.

• Familiarity with event-driven architecture and message brokers, ideally RabbitMQ.

• Experience in utilizing modern AI tools within the software development lifecycle.

• Excellent communication abilities in both German and English.

• A strong sense of ownership, sound decision-making capabilities, and the ability to unify differing technical viewpoints.
