Lead Developer, EdTech, AI

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in New York.

📋 Description

• Oversee the technical architecture of educational platforms and tools.

• Evaluate code, establish standards, and guide developers.

• Develop and deliver features comprehensively across front end, back end, and data.

• Connect with educational systems such as LMS platforms, SIS, and single sign-on solutions.

• Implement AI functionalities including tutoring, content creation, and learning analytics.

• Utilize AI tools in everyday tasks and assist the team in adopting them.

• Define clear guidelines for the safe use of AI, particularly concerning student data.

• Guarantee that the product is secure, efficient, and user-friendly.

• Collaborate with product and design teams to convert concepts into a release strategy.

⛳️ Requirements

• A minimum of 5 years in software development, including at least 2 years in a leadership or mentoring role.

• Proven experience in creating EdTech products (LMS, assessment tools, tutoring applications, or similar).

• Proficient in React or Next.js, and in Node.js or Python.

• Familiarity with cloud hosting (AWS, GCP, or Azure), databases, and APIs.

• Direct experience in developing AI features using LLM APIs (OpenAI, Anthropic, or similar).

• Regular use of AI coding tools (Claude Code, Copilot, Cursor) and sound judgment regarding their outputs.

• Awareness of educational standards such as LTI, SCORM, or xAPI.

• Understanding of student data privacy regulations (FERPA, COPPA) and accessibility standards (WCAG).

• Ability to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical audiences.

• Experience with RAG or AI agents in a product context.

• Background in learning analytics or adaptive learning methodologies.

• Previous engagement with schools, universities, or ed-tech startups.
