Lead Data Scientist

📋 Description

• Explore opportunities for revenue generation and analyze data to define the size, scope, and impact of product modifications in Databricks.

• Design, develop, deploy, and manage production Machine Learning systems, encompassing batch inference, online services, and online learning models.

• Leverage the team’s feature store and model registry for applications in personalization, experimentation, and automation.

• Collaborate with Product, Mobile Engineering, Cloud Engineering, Data Engineering, and MLOps teams to incorporate ML systems into user-facing features.

• Establish monitoring systems to evaluate the performance of ML features and their business impact.

• Implement lineage tracking for data, code, and model artifacts to ensure compliance, reproducibility, and security throughout the ML lifecycle.

• Enhance the data ecosystem and pipelines that support experimentation and Machine Learning.

• Provide mentorship to data scientists and establish best practices for advanced analytics and ML system development.

• Utilize Claude Code and other AI tools for data discovery, modeling, and evaluating experiments.

• Assist in scaling the delivery of production ML and contribute to shaping the team roadmap alongside the data science lead and product manager.

⛳️ Requirements

• Advanced degree in a discipline that requires complex statistical analysis or equivalent professional experience.

• Over 6 years of experience in scoping, building, and analyzing ML-powered systems, including models deployed to production.

• Extensive experience with Python, scikit-learn, PySpark, and programming languages for causal inference.

• Knowledge of software engineering best practices, such as testing, modularization, and version control.

• Technical education and professional experience in modern causal inference and causal analysis techniques.

• Significant experience with foundational data, guiding instrumentation, and carrying out data transformations.

• Practical experience in setting up consumer technology experiments, including design, monitoring, and analysis.

• Background in building ML systems or conducting experiments at a consumer (B2C) technology firm.

• Excellent communication and project leadership abilities.

• Capability to influence cross-functional teams.

• Structured, hypothesis-driven, and data-supported problem solving skills.

• Prior experience using Large Language Models (LLMs) in advanced data processing and analysis workflows.

• Preferred: familiarity with digital advertising and ad tech infrastructure.

• Preferred: experience with ranking and grouping algorithms for content feeds.

• Preferred: experience in managing production feature stores and ML model registries.

• Preferred: experience collaborating with product line General Managers, revenue reporting, and forecasting analyses.

• Preferred: experience with subscription products, lifecycle marketing, or user acquisition strategies.

• Preferred: experience working with geospatial data and mobile location-based services.

• Proficiency in AI, critical assessment of AI-generated code and models, along with accountability for delivered work.

• Ability to manage concurrent AI-assisted workstreams and disseminate AI workflows within the team.
