Lead Data Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Mexico.

📋 Description

• Design and develop scalable, cloud-native data platforms.

• Mentor and assist engineers through knowledge sharing and code reviews.

• Construct robust and maintainable ETL/ELT pipelines that integrate various systems.

• Set a standard by writing high-quality, testable code.

• Engage in architecture and design discussions.

• Break down complex problems into modular, efficient, and scalable components.

• Support efforts in data governance and quality, including data lineage, cataloging, and access management.

• Take part in architectural discussions, iteration planning, and feature sizing meetings.

• Implement data analytics solutions using on-premises and cloud-based data platforms.

⛳️ Requirements

• Strong practical experience in data engineering, specifically in creating production-grade pipelines on big data platforms.

• Familiarity with the Hadoop ecosystem and cloud data platforms, particularly Databricks.

• High level of proficiency in Python, Spark, Hadoop, Hive, Impala, Airflow, NiFi, and SQL.

• Practical experience with Databricks and Snowflake; preference for Databricks.

• Experience with Apache Airflow, Apache NiFi, or Talend.

• Working knowledge of DevOps/CI-CD practices, including Git, automated testing, release pipelines, and observability.

• Strong problem-solving abilities and expertise in debugging complex data issues.

• Capability to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

• Resilience, emotional intelligence, and a focus on agile delivery.

• Comprehensive understanding of the distinction between coding and engineering.

• Advanced English proficiency required for collaboration with global teams.

• Proficient in Spanish required.

• Experience in developing Java-based applications is desirable.

• Familiarity with cloud-native foundations or AI coding assistants is a plus.
