This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in New Jersey, +2 more states.
β’ Oversee the design of intricate control systems, which includes system architecture, I/O design, instrumentation, operational sequences, PLC/HMI/SCADA integration, and the creation of engineering documentation.
β’ Deliver technical guidance throughout the design phases, FAT/SAT, startup, commissioning, and troubleshooting of systems.
β’ Evaluate technical outputs for precision, consistency, compliance, and engineering excellence.
β’ Act as a subject matter expert on complex thermal, electrical, and balance-of-plant control systems.
β’ Implement and uphold engineering standards, documentation protocols, and quality processes through the Quality Management System (QMS).
β’ Recognize opportunities to enhance system design, technical standards, and engineering workflows.
β’ Direct engineering initiatives across various projects and offer technical guidance to fellow controls engineers.
β’ Manage entire project lifecycles or significant technical workstreams from the design phase to commissioning.
β’ Partner with project managers to oversee scope, schedule, budget, risk, and technical execution.
β’ Effectively delegate tasks and assist in the development of junior engineers.
β’ Detect scope modifications, technical hazards, and potential business prospects.
β’ Assist in crafting technical proposals, estimates, and presentations as necessary.
β’ Be a reliable technical resource and primary engineering liaison for clients when designated.
β’ Convey complex technical information in a clear and professional manner.
β’ Familiarize and adhere to customer-specific standards, procedures, and project specifications.
β’ Offer prompt problem-solving support and uphold commitments.
β’ Bachelorβs degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical discipline, or equivalent relevant experience.
β’ Over 10 years of progressive experience in controls engineering.
β’ At least 3 years of experience operating at a senior level or equivalent to Control Engineer III.
β’ Professional Engineering (PE) license and/or relevant industry certifications are preferred.
β’ Extensive controls experience in thermal energy, central utility, power generation, or similar complex process settings.
β’ Practical experience with chillers, cooling towers, boilers, heat recovery systems, thermal energy storage, heat pumps, generators, switchgear, and related balance-of-plant systems.
β’ Advanced knowledge in control system architecture, I/O design, instrumentation, PLC/HMI/SCADA systems, FAT/SAT, startup, and commissioning.
β’ Strong comprehension of engineering standards, quality processes, technical documentation, and QMS requirements.
β’ Proven ability to lead intricate technical decisions and provide engineering guidance to others.
β’ Excellent analytical, troubleshooting, communication, and decision-making capabilities.
β’ Capacity to mentor engineers, collaborate across teams, and perform effectively in complex or high-pressure project situations.
β’ Willingness to travel overnight up to 50% of the time may be necessary.
β’ Participation in on-call rotation as required.
β’ Valid driver's license is mandatory.
β’ Must be fit for duty at all times.
