This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Oversee advanced research initiatives in natural language processing, computer vision, signal processing, and AI reasoning.
• Spearhead research on AI safety, including conducting literature reviews, designing experiments, engineering software, acquiring data, analyzing findings, and documenting processes.
• Develop, design, and manage independent research programs aimed at safeguarding the public from potential AI system risks.
• Lead and participate in competitive research proposals by utilizing Heilmeier criteria to outline the scope, methodology, and expected outcomes.
• Act as the principal investigator for Digital Safety independent test and evaluation research initiatives.
• Leverage knowledge in AI and software engineering to implement and oversee research programs.
• Evaluate experimental findings, diagnose issues, propose solutions, and assess technical specifications.
• Strategize, design, and execute procedures for validating testing and evaluation outcomes.
• Create and implement research challenges while utilizing and enhancing DSRI evaluation tools.
• Organize workshops at prominent AI safety research conferences and present comparative research findings.
• Remain updated on evolving technologies through academic papers, scientific publications, and conferences.
• Lead or contribute to both department-specific and cross-functional projects.
• Proven general knowledge in the fields of AI and software engineering.
• Demonstrated experience in securing research funding through the development of competitive proposals.
• Proven capacity to write and successfully win proposals for prestigious research workshops.
• Established ability to attract invitations for keynote presentations.
• Exceptional communication abilities.
• Advanced skills in AI engineering, software engineering, and data analysis.
• Competence in collaborating with research scientists, engineers, team members, and external collaborators.
• Capability to publish research findings at leading academic conferences.
• PhD in Computer Science with a focus on a relevant AI specialty, accompanied by 8 or more years of directly related research experience; or
• Master’s degree in Computer Science with an emphasis on a relevant AI specialty, along with 10 or more years of directly related research experience; or
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science centered on a pertinent AI specialty, plus 12 or more years of directly related research experience.
