Lead, AI Governance

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Lead and continually improve the organization’s AI Governance program.

• Act as the subject matter expert and primary contact for AI/LLM governance.

• Collaborate with Information Security, Software Engineering, IT Operations, Risk, and Legal/Compliance teams.

• Develop and uphold the AI governance strategy, frameworks, policies, and controls in alignment with NIST AI RMF, ISO/IEC 42001, and applicable regulations.

• Oversee the AI Tool Inventory, Assessment, and Approval Process.

• Direct AI due diligence and ongoing monitoring for third-party and internally developed AI/LLM solutions.

• Manage the Copilot, ChatGPT, and Claude citizen development processes and their approval workflows.

• Govern AI agentic tools, including access and change management controls.

• Create and maintain the AI Record Retention Policy.

• Enhance the organization’s AI Use Policy.

• Collaborate with Information Security on LLM monitoring, connected app approvals, DLP controls, and data exposure monitoring.

• Document and oversee AI governance activities, decisions, tasks, and controls.

• Generate AI risk assessments, process flows, procedures, reports, metrics, and communications.

• Coordinate awareness initiatives, presentations, and training for internal stakeholders.

• Identify and address AI-related business risks.

• Design, test, monitor, and document controls aimed at mitigating AI-related risks.

• Assist with AI-related audits and regulatory examinations.

• Monitor emerging AI regulations, standards, and best practices.

• Establish metrics and KPIs to assess the effectiveness of AI governance.

• Collaborate on ITIL, COBIT, and ISO governance frameworks pertinent to AI/LLM technologies.

• Identify opportunities for continuous improvement and cost savings.

• Engage in AI-related strategic initiatives, planning, and policymaking committees.

• Perform additional duties as assigned.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Business Administration, or a related field is required.

• An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

• A minimum of seven years of relevant experience is required.

• Background in IT Governance, Risk, Compliance, Security, and/or AI/ML-related fields is required.

• Certification in AI governance, risk, or security is preferred.

• ISACA Advanced in AI Audit (AAIA), AIGP, CRISC, CISA, or CGEIT certifications are preferred.

• Strong familiarity with the NIST AI Risk Management Framework, ISO/IEC 42001, and emerging AI regulations such as the EU AI Act.

• Proficiency in analyzing and manipulating data using Excel, GRC platforms, and online repositories.

• Experience in process modeling and procedure development is desired.

• Understanding of systems development lifecycle and change management principles as applied to AI/ML model development and deployment.

• Knowledge of financial institution governance and regulations, including SSAE16/18, FFIEC, NSIT, and ISACA/COBIT.

• Familiarity with responsible AI concepts, model risk management, bias and fairness testing, explainability, and data privacy.

• Exceptional written, oral communication, and presentation skills.

• Ability to convey complex AI and technical risk concepts to non-technical audiences.

• Competence in summarizing and condensing large volumes of information and data for executive summaries.

• Capability to research and resolve issues in the dynamic AI/LLM technology and regulatory environment.

• Aptitude for organizing and managing multiple priorities simultaneously.

• Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively in a team setting.
