This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Transition from supporting to leading month-end closing activities.
• Prepare journal entries with adequate documentation to support them.
• Create balance sheet reconciliations and supplementary schedules for financial reporting.
• Compile documents for audit requests and address auditor inquiries.
• Review the work of junior staff, provide constructive feedback, and train or mentor as necessary.
• Conduct cross-period and actual-versus-forecast analyses for balance sheets and profit & loss statements.
• Clarify significant variances and pinpoint any unrecorded revenues or expenses that need to be accrued.
• Ensure that documentation for managed areas aligns with US GAAP standards.
• Optimize processes and identify areas of inefficiency.
• Partner with the Controller and VP of Finance on enhancing processes, internal controls, and accounting policies.
• Investigate US GAAP technical accounting subjects.
• Handle multiple responsibilities under tight deadlines and communicate challenges and solutions to the Controller and VP of Finance.
• Collaborate with Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Business Systems, Financial Planning & Analysis, Inventory Management, and Operations.
• Report directly to the Controller.
• Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance.
• Active CPA license.
• At least 5 years of accounting experience, including a combination of public accounting (audit only) and industry accounting.
• Significant hands-on experience in month-end close processes, including journal entries, balance sheet reconciliations, support schedules for financial statements and audits, reviewing and approving others' work, and maintaining process and procedure documentation.
• Capacity to assist with and eventually take charge of financial reporting and periodic tax filings.
• Exceptional attention to detail coupled with a strong sense of ownership and responsibility.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
• Excellent project management skills with the capacity to prioritize tasks under tight or competing deadlines.
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-growth startup environment and enhance processes.
• Capability to work independently as a self-starter without close supervision.
• Proficiency in cross-functional collaboration within and outside the Accounting department.
• Superior written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to train and mentor others while providing timely feedback.
• Flexibility to adapt to new systems.
• Preferred: Public accounting experience with one of the Big 4 accounting firms.
• Preferred: Industry accounting experience in General Ledger Accounting and/or from a SaaS company.
• Preferred: People management experience.
• Preferred: Experience in training and coaching.
• Preferred: Familiarity with AI tools for automation and efficiency improvements.
• Must be able to work daily in the Eastern Standard Time Zone.
