This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Netherlands, +3 more countries.

📋 Description

• Assist in the design, production, and distribution of accessible multilingual strategic litigation resources, which includes the enhancement of the Community Toolkit.

• Conduct introductory strategic litigation modules for community groups.

• Facilitate workshops, training sessions, and strategic discussions to prepare communities for litigation.

• Create community-driven, intersectional, and integrated strategies for litigation, advocacy, and communications in collaboration with community partners.

• Execute litigation strategies in collaboration with external counsel when necessary.

• Ensure that litigation processes remain community-focused and aligned with values from the initial concept through filing, implementation, and enforcement.

• Oversee case files, filings, documentation, data management, submissions, version control, and thorough case documentation.

• Establish and nurture legal networks, including pro-bono support, legal researchers, and connections with local lawyers.

• Engage in and contribute to the Community of Practice.

• Share community-centric and trauma-informed practices with the broader legal community.

• Participate in internal initiatives aimed at legal knowledge enhancement.

• Keep team members updated on the progress of legal projects and support requirements.

• Attend retreats, staff meetings, team meetings, and organizational strategy sessions.

• Collaborate with the Legal team to build and sustain trust-based, equitable partnerships with community partners.

• Lawyers report directly to the Head of Legal.


⛳️ Requirements

• Experience as a practicing lawyer in the Council of Europe region.

• Strong legal research and drafting abilities.

• Background in strategic litigation.

• Comprehensive understanding of trauma-informed practices.

• Proven dedication to anti-racism and addressing other forms of oppression.

• Capability to manage a demanding workload, meet deadlines, and maintain meticulous attention to detail.

• Experience collaborating with communities impacted by racial, social, and economic injustices.

• Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills.

• Proficiency in explaining complex legal issues to diverse audiences and fostering trust in various cultural contexts.

• Experience in designing and delivering training programs.

• Fluency in written and spoken English.

• Proficiency in an additional language is highly desirable.

• Must possess the right to work in the country of residence.

• Must reside in the Netherlands, Germany, United Kingdom, or Denmark.
