Language Testing Specialist

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in District of Columbia, +1 more state.

📋 Description

• Conduct research and develop test items that align with specified requirements.

• Revise test items based on input from content managers, project managers, clients, and subject matter experts.

• Evaluate, review, and update test materials and associated documents.

• Create and enhance graphic descriptions to aid student understanding.

• Assess and monitor graphic alterations for content precision and suitability for grade levels.

• Prepare documentation for both internal and external evaluations.

• Oversee item development tasks carried out by external consultants and ensure timely completion.

• Analyze data from small-scale pilot studies along with feedback from teachers and students to make adjustments to test items.

• Analyze and interpret field test results to guide revisions of items and the creation of new ones.

• Foster communication and collaboration within and across teams during the test development process.

• Follow quality control protocols for both print and digitally delivered items.

• Compile and maintain summary reports, electronic notes, spreadsheets, and other pertinent records.

• Draft and update specifications for test items.

• Manage the test item database.

• Produce training samples, annotations, and scoring guidelines for speaking and writing assessments.


⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution in a relevant discipline, with a minimum of two years of applicable experience; OR a Master’s degree from an accredited institution in a relevant discipline.

• Experience working with K-12 English learners in U.S. educational settings, especially in grades K-5.

• Background in teaching English to non-native speakers, such as ESL, ESOL, or ELD.

• Experience in developing multiple-choice and constructed-response test items for K-12 students.

• Familiarity with English language development as well as K-12 educational standards and practices.

• Capacity to work independently with minimal oversight.

• Ability to prioritize tasks, adhere to deadlines, and collaborate effectively.

• Strong attention to detail.

• Adaptability in responding to feedback and changing project priorities.

• Exceptional writing, editing, and proofreading abilities in English.

• Excellent organizational, planning, and time management skills.

• Strong verbal and interpersonal communication skills.

• Proficiency in a language other than English.

• Familiarity with Adobe InDesign and Microsoft Office.

• Occasional travel may be required 1–2 times a year.
