Land Stewardship Manager

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Idaho.

📋 Description

• Manage, coordinate, and execute Idaho’s stewardship program for conservation easements.

• Ensure adherence to legal monitoring and reporting standards to safeguard conservation values.

• Supervise the majority of conservation easements held by the Idaho Business Unit across western, central, and northern Idaho.

• Lead the easement monitoring team, providing training and resources for staff and interns.

• Oversee daily operations on various TNC-owned conservation properties in Idaho.

• Implement annual operational plans and carry out on-site stewardship and land management activities.

• Plan and execute resource management initiatives as detailed in preserve management plans.

• Utilize conservation strategies such as regenerative agriculture, grazing management leases, cooperative weed management partnerships, and collaborative restoration efforts.

• Cultivate and maintain relationships with private landowners, community leaders, organizations, land trusts, and public agencies.

• Travel within Idaho approximately 50% of the time.

• Occasionally visit TNC properties in Idaho during nights or weekends.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in a relevant discipline and 5 years of experience in natural resource management, conservation, environmental studies, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

• Proven experience in resource stewardship, conservation easements, land management, or farm and ranch management.

• Demonstrated ability to build relationships and partnerships effectively.

• Strong communication skills with internal and external stakeholders, both in writing and verbally.

• Experience managing multiple projects at once.

• Proficient in managing files and databases.

• Familiarity with Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, web browsers, and common software applications.

• Willingness to travel extensively within Idaho, approximately 50% of the time.

• Valid driver’s license and adherence to TNC’s Auto Safety Program.

• Ability to travel occasionally to TNC properties in Idaho during nights or weekends.

• Comfortable working in varying weather conditions and at remote sites.

• Knowledge of conservation practices related to land management.

• Ability to articulate conservation practices to both technical and non-technical audiences.

• Awareness of current trends and practices in conservation, land management, and natural resource protection.

• Capable of completing tasks independently while meeting deadlines.

• Multilingual abilities and multicultural or cross-cultural experience are valued.
