
Key Account Manager – Hospitals, Anti-infectives

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Virginia.
• Develop a clinical understanding and demand among infectious disease physicians, pharmacists, and microbiology professionals within target accounts.
• Advocate for anti-infective products by navigating institutional formulary approval processes and educating customers on proper product usage.
• Establish and enhance institutional product access through engagement with pharmacy directors, ID pharmacists, ID physicians, microbiologists, and other key stakeholders.
• Provide education to physicians and stakeholders through one-on-one meetings, presentations, professional education programs, and other suitable channels.
• Cultivate professional relationships and communication networks among hospital medical staff, pharmacies, and ID opinion leaders.
• Create opportunities for product education and collaborate with local/regional thought leaders and professional societies.
• Meet call and field productivity expectations, including five full-time days in the field each week.
• Partner with Regional Account Management, Market Access Leadership, Medical Affairs, and Marketing on opportunities, KOL interactions, and formulary modifications.
• Relay field issues, opportunities, and competitive activities through organizational channels.
• Achieve territory formulary adoption goals while adhering to ethical market access practices and regulations.
• Implement brand strategies and ensure consistent company marketing messaging.
• Analyze territory information to create account plans, optimize routing, and maximize field resources.
• Accurately report field activities and territory expenses, submitting written reports by management deadlines.
• Maintain positive relationships with peers, customers, and company managers.
• Conduct company business in accordance with PDMA/Sample regulations, company policies, and procedures.
• Pursue ongoing learning and professional development in sales, communication, managed care, and product knowledge.
• Maintain company equipment and promotional materials following guidelines.
• Attend company-sponsored meetings, national/regional conventions, and other meetings as directed.
• A BS/BA degree is required.
• Hospital-based pharmaceutical experience is necessary.
• Proven experience in hospital or health system environments, particularly with anti-infective, critical care, or intravenous experience, is strongly preferred.
• Must complete relevant training and certify in product knowledge for assigned products successfully.
• Strong understanding of hospital product purchasing, ordering, administration, formulary processes, and reimbursement policies is essential.
• Ability to navigate hospital systems and reach key decision makers.
• Experience in building rapport and relationships in institutional settings is required.
• Demonstrated experience in facilitating educational programs.
• Capability to communicate clinical data regarding highly scientific products.
• Experience in establishing hospital product formulary approval through P&T committees in the IV antibiotic or related category.
• Business-to-business experience and/or strong influencing skills are necessary.
• Documented history of performance and achievement.
• Excellent oral, presentation, and written communication skills.
• Strong organizational, interpersonal, and listening abilities.
• Capacity to work independently as well as collaborate effectively as a team member.
• Proactive, self-starter, highly motivated, and problem-solving skills are important.
• Digital proficiency; ability to deliver presentations using an iPad.
• Proficient in MS Office Suite: Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Outlook.
• Must reside within the assigned geographic territory.
• Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record and ability to pass a comprehensive background check.
• Must possess valid licenses and credentialing required to conduct business in the assigned territory.
• Willingness and ability to travel approximately 80% of the year.
• Ability to drive or fly to meetings and conventions.
• Some overnight and/or weekend travel may be necessary.
