Junior Solution Architect

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Virginia.

📋 Description

• Assist in designing data and technology solutions that encompass cloud, on-premises, and government-hosted environments

• Collaborate with architects and engineers to comprehend mission requirements and convert them into precise technical specifications and designs

• Help document existing systems, data flows, integrations, constraints, and opportunities for modernization

• Develop and update architecture diagrams, interface documentation, decision records, and various technical materials

• Investigate technologies and technical methodologies, summarizing findings, benefits, risks, and trade-offs

• Acquire and implement established reference architectures, integration patterns, technical standards, and engineering practices

• Engage in technical discovery sessions, design discussions, demonstrations, and customer meetings

• Work alongside Data Engineers and Technical Leads to address inquiries and ensure that implementation efforts align with solution designs

• Clearly communicate progress, questions, technical concepts, and recommendations to both technical and non-technical audiences

• Represent SPA as a thoughtful, reliable, and inquisitive technical partner, cultivating trusted relationships throughout the customer ecosystem

• Support the Defense Health Agency Chief Data and Analytics Office in establishing an enterprise data orchestration layer for the Military Health System

• Integrate information from various defense and federal systems to create scalable data pipelines, APIs, and data products that enhance health data integration, accessibility, and utilization

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, Data Science, or a similar technical discipline

• 1-3 years of relevant professional experience

• Basic understanding of software, data, cloud, systems, or application architecture concepts

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills

• Willingness and ability to learn new technologies, tools, domains, and technical concepts

• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with a keen eye for detail

• Capability to organize technical information and create clear, accurate documentation

• Proficiency in collaborating effectively, receiving feedback, and contributing within a multidisciplinary team

• Initiative to explore unfamiliar challenges, seek guidance when necessary, and carry work through to completion

• Ability to operate professionally in a customer-facing environment and adapt to evolving requirements and priorities

• Eligibility to obtain and maintain a Secret clearance

• Familiarity with Python, SQL, Java, or any other programming language

• Exposure to AWS, Microsoft Azure, Oracle Cloud, or other cloud platforms

• Understanding of APIs, databases, data pipelines, data modeling, or distributed systems

• Experience with Databricks, Apache Spark, Tableau, or similar data and analytics platforms

• Proficiency in using Git or other version-control and collaborative development tools

• Familiarity with AI/ML concepts or LLM-based tools
