This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United Kingdom.
• Design and maintain software functionalities utilizing Java or Kotlin, Spring Boot, and contemporary web technologies.
• Create RESTful APIs to support internal systems and integrations.
• Engage in front-end development with HTML, CSS, JavaScript, TypeScript, React, Angular, or AngularJS.
• Produce clean, readable, and maintainable code.
• Query, structure, and manage data within relational and NoSQL databases.
• Conduct unit, integration, and functional testing.
• Take part in code reviews and address defects.
• Utilize Git, build tools, and CI/CD pipelines in daily development activities.
• Collaborate with product, QA, design, DevOps, and engineering teams.
• Implement engineering practices focused on security, performance, accessibility, and maintainability.
• Assume ownership of assigned tasks and contribute to shared engineering best practices.
• Develop software that supports national systems, public services, and operational environments.
• Must be eligible for security clearance and have resided in the UK for a minimum of 5 years.
• Must possess the right to work in the UK.
• Required to demonstrate a pre-existing right to work and travel within the UK; documentary evidence is necessary.
• Approximately 2 to 5 years of software development experience, ideally in a commercial development setting.
• Practical experience with Java or Kotlin and object-oriented programming principles.
• Familiarity with Spring Boot or similar backend frameworks.
• Proficient understanding of relational and NoSQL databases.
• Experience with Git, collaborative development workflows, CI/CD pipelines, and automated delivery processes.
• Willingness to write and maintain automated tests.
• Ability to function effectively in an agile team and communicate clearly.
• Experience or working knowledge of Spring Framework, Spring Data JPA, Hibernate, or comparable backend technologies.
• Comprehension of REST APIs and service-oriented development.
• Front-end development experience using HTML, CSS, and JavaScript; ideally with TypeScript.
• Knowledge of frameworks or libraries such as React, Angular, AngularJS, or Vue.
• Exposure to cloud platforms like AWS or Azure, containers, Kubernetes, and CI/CD tools such as Jenkins, GitLab CI, or GitHub Actions.
• Experience with or working towards WCAG 2.2 AA accessibility standards.
• Background in secure, regulated, or operationally sensitive environments.
• Ideally possess a degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or a related technical field.
• Equivalent practical experience, professional training, or relevant certifications will be considered.
• Successful completion of vetting, references, and occupational health checks is required; a DBS check may also be necessary depending on the position.
