This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Washington.
• Evaluate assigned FOIA requests and determine relevant records.
• Manage routine, open, and backlogged FOIA cases in line with internal protocols.
• Assess documents for relevance, duplication, sensitivity, and potential exemptions.
• Suggest redactions and withholding decisions under the supervision of senior FOIA staff.
• Utilize authorized redaction software to highlight exempt content, sanitize documents, and ready files for distribution.
• Compose standard correspondence using sanctioned FOIA templates.
• Enter records, correspondence, case notes, and supporting materials into the case management system.
• Collaborate with team members, records custodians, and program contacts to gather necessary information.
• Monitor assigned cases, deadlines, document quantities, and case-processing tasks.
• Execute additional responsibilities as required.
• Bachelor’s degree.
• Over 2 years of relevant experience with FOIA.
• Basic understanding of the Freedom of Information Act, Privacy Act, and federal records-disclosure regulations.
• Experience in reviewing documents and managing sensitive or personally identifiable information.
• Excellent attention to detail, as well as strong writing, research, data-entry, and organizational abilities.
• Capability to obtain and sustain the necessary security clearance.
