This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Create and disseminate regular communications to VHA AI use case owners and enterprise staff, which may include email campaigns, Microsoft Teams messages, and newsletter updates.
• Organize, promote, and conduct informational and educational sessions for VHA personnel.
• Write, edit, and produce presentations and written reports concerning AI inventory status, risk management resources, and oversight activities.
• Convert technical AI governance documentation into accessible language for non-technical audiences.
• Develop and manage digital repositories for AI guidelines, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and frequently asked questions (FAQs).
• Assist AI use case owners with quarterly update cycles through collaborative sessions, office hours, and asynchronous communications.
• Manage information output, announcements, and inquiries from media or stakeholders directed through the Institute.
• Convey the intent and voice of Institute leadership in draft materials and meeting documents.
• Oversee communication logistics for AI committee and workgroup meetings.
• Ensure compliance with Section 508 accessibility standards for digital and written materials.
• A minimum of 4 years of experience in communications or public relations.
• Experience in communications or public relations, which may include public relations, information dissemination, press releases and media inquiries, social media, and/or advertising.
• A BA/BS degree in Communications, Public Affairs, Journalism, English, or a related discipline.
• Must be able to obtain and maintain a favorably adjudicated Tier 1 / National Agency Check with Written Inquiries (NACI) background investigation.
• Completion of VA Privacy and Information Security Awareness and Rules of Behavior training (TMS #10176) is required prior to system access and annually thereafter.
• Must be authorized to work in the United States.
• All work should be conducted within a jurisdiction governed by U.S. laws or its territories.
• Capability to translate technical topics into precise, accessible language.
• Experience in hosting recurring stakeholder webinars or virtual event series.
• Proven track record of ghostwriting for senior executives, accurately reflecting a principal’s voice.
• Ability to manage a high-volume production schedule.
• Experience in federal health agency communications, with preference given to VA or VHA experience.
• Familiarity with Section 508 accessibility requirements.
• Experience in building and managing a SharePoint knowledge site or similar digital repository.
• Ability to work independently between scheduled check-ins.
• Quick to adapt and gain understanding of complex issues.
• Strong attention to detail.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Knowledge of military and Veteran populations is desirable.
