Java Staff Software Developer IV

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Colombia.

📋 Description

• Act as a key contributor to the platform, significantly influencing Caseware’s global customer and partner value.

• Take ownership of crucial features and architectural enhancements from conception through implementation.

• Collaborate with skilled teams to exchange innovative ideas.

• Tackle complex business-critical issues, such as third-party extensibility and real-time multi-user synchronization.

• Define and enhance the technical architecture while establishing safe, scalable, and reusable standards.

• Impact architectural decisions through design reviews, RFCs, and hands-on collaboration.

• Lead proof-of-concept initiatives to inform roadmap and architectural choices.

• Collaborate with QA, Product, Security, and Domain SMEs to ensure observability, reliability, and system quality.

• Set engineering standards and best practices to ensure consistency, security, and maintainability.

• Identify systemic risks and address root causes that affect reliability, performance, or costs.

• Work with DevOps and Security on CI/CD pipelines, deployment strategies, and production safeguards.

• Mentor both senior and junior engineers through code reviews, design discussions, and technical support.

• Participate in production support as a senior escalation point and lead root-cause investigations.

• Advocate for responsible AI-assisted development across teams.

• Establish standards and guidelines for AI-assisted and agentic tooling throughout the SDLC.

• Assess and pilot AI-assisted development tools and agentic workflows.

• Guide engineers on advanced AI-assisted development methodologies.

• Manage feedback loops and metrics to measure the impact of AI-assisted development on speed and quality.

⛳️ Requirements

• Extensive experience with server-side Java; recognized as a subject matter expert in Java.

• At least 8 years of experience with core Java.

• Proficient in monolith applications and microservices.

• Experience with containerization and orchestration, particularly using Docker and Kubernetes.

• Familiarity with NoSQL databases, such as MongoDB.

• Experience in an agile team environment, collaborating with developers, testers, and a product owner.

• Proven track record in designing and evolving shared platforms or infrastructure utilized by multiple teams.

• Experience delivering cloud-native systems on AWS.

• Understanding of scalability, reliability, security, and cost management principles.

• Strong foundation in software engineering principles.

• Proven ability to contribute to and take ownership of significant architectural decisions.

• Excellent communication skills and the capacity to influence technical direction across teams.

• Strong initiative to enhance processes, tools, methodologies, and product quality.

• Experience with Azure or Google Cloud is a plus.

• Contributions to open-source projects or a robust GitHub portfolio are advantageous.
