Java Product Engineer – Full Stack Java Developer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Virginia.

📋 Description

• Design, develop, test, deploy, maintain, and enhance enterprise Java applications utilizing Java 17 or newer.

• Create scalable backend microservices and RESTful APIs leveraging Spring technologies.

• Design and build full-stack web applications using React or Angular frameworks.

• Analyze enterprise applications and assist with modernization efforts involving Java, C/C++, COBOL, Pro*C, Oracle, and associated technologies.

• Develop application data access layers with Spring Data JPA, Hibernate, and JDBC.

• Construct complex SQL queries, PL/SQL, stored procedures, and batch processing solutions.

• Enhance performance of Oracle and relational databases.

• Design scalable, secure, and maintainable architectures employing object-oriented design and software patterns.

• Create and support cloud-native applications and containerized deployments using Docker, Kubernetes, or Red Hat OpenShift.

• Develop automated unit and integration tests utilizing JUnit and Mockito.

• Engage in peer code reviews, architecture evaluations, and technical design discussions.

• Utilize SonarQube and static code analysis tools to elevate code quality and pinpoint vulnerabilities.

• Diagnose complex issues through debugging, log analysis, and root cause assessment.

• Build and support CI/CD pipelines utilizing Jenkins, Maven, Git, and related tools.

• Assist with deployments, production releases, and post-deployment troubleshooting.

• Implement monitoring, logging, and performance optimization strategies.

• Collaborate with stakeholders to gather requirements and translate business needs into effective software solutions.

• Participate in Agile/Scrum ceremonies.

• Create and maintain technical documentation.

• Own features from design through deployment and ongoing support.

• Evaluate applications and suggest enhancements for performance, maintainability, scalability, reliability, and security.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related technical field, or equivalent relevant professional experience.

• At least 5 years of professional experience in developing enterprise Java applications.

• Strong expertise in Java 17 or later.

• Extensive hands-on experience with Spring Boot, Spring Framework, Spring MVC, and Spring Data JPA.

• Strong understanding of Hibernate, Java Persistence API (JPA), entity relationships, lazy and eager loading, and transaction management.

• Proven experience in developing and maintaining enterprise microservices and RESTful APIs.

• Strong JDBC development skills, including complex SQL queries, batch processing, and performance enhancement.

• Experience in administering or developing with Oracle or other enterprise relational databases.

• Experience in designing and building full-stack applications using contemporary front-end frameworks.

• Solid understanding of object-oriented design, software design patterns, and best practices in coding.

• Experience in developing automated unit and integration tests with JUnit and Mockito.

• Experience with Maven, Git, and CI/CD pipelines.

• Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot, debug, and resolve complex challenges in enterprise applications and production settings.

• Experienced across the software development lifecycle.

• Familiarity with Agile/Scrum development methodologies.

• U.S. citizenship is required by contract.

• Preferred: Advanced Oracle database development, PL/SQL, stored procedures, Oracle Exadata, Docker, Kubernetes, Red Hat OpenShift, Spring Security, Kafka, COBOL, Pro*C, C/C++, SonarQube, cloud-native applications, AWS or Microsoft Azure, federal government clients, and production releases.
