Java Developer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Design, develop, test, and maintain enterprise-level Java applications.

• Analyze and address intricate software defects and production challenges.

• Provide support for enhancements and maintenance activities for applications utilizing Java, Spring Framework, Struts, JSP, EJB, JMS, WebLogic, Hibernate, Oracle, and associated technologies.

• Create and implement REST and SOAP-based services and integrations.

• Develop and sustain contemporary backend services using Java 17+, Spring Boot, microservices, JPA/Hibernate, and REST APIs.

• Work alongside architects and senior developers on modernization projects.

• Design and improve SQL queries and database integrations.

• Engage in code reviews and provide mentorship to junior developers.

• Contribute to automated testing, CI/CD processes, and application deployments.

• Collaborate with cross-functional Agile teams to deliver high-quality software solutions.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Systems, or a related field (or equivalent experience).

• 3–7 years of experience in software development.

• Extensive experience in Java development.

• Familiarity with Spring Framework and/or Spring Boot.

• Experience in developing REST APIs and web services.

• Proficient in working with Oracle or other relational databases.

• Experience with Git-based source control systems.

• Background in Agile/Scrum methodologies.

• Strong analytical and troubleshooting capabilities.

• U.S. Citizen or Permanent Resident (required).

• Must have reliable internet access to support effective telecommuting.

• Standard business hours are Monday through Friday; occasional extended or weekend hours may be necessary based on operational demands.

• Preferred: Experience with WebLogic application server administration or deployment.

• Preferred: Familiarity with Struts, JSP, EJB, JMS, or other enterprise Java technologies.

• Preferred: Experience with microservices architectures.

• Preferred: Knowledge of Docker and containerized applications.

• Preferred: Experience with React, JavaScript, or TypeScript.

• Preferred: Experience supporting federal government or VA programs.

• Preferred: Familiarity with Jira and Confluence.
