This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Design, create, test, improve, and maintain backend applications and services based on Java for the IBS program.
• Develop backend solutions utilizing Java, Spring Boot, and relevant Java frameworks and libraries.
• Design, develop, maintain, and utilize RESTful APIs and web services.
• Create application business logic, service-layer components, integrations, and data-access functionality.
• Integrate backend services with relational databases, external systems, and other application components.
• Convert functional and technical requirements into dependable, scalable, and maintainable software solutions.
• Write clean, efficient, testable, and maintainable Java code.
• Develop and sustain unit and integration tests.
• Engage in peer code reviews.
• Diagnose and resolve backend application defects, integration challenges, and performance issues.
• Analyze application logs and system behavior to determine root causes and implement solutions.
• Support application integrations across system components and external interfaces.
• Contribute to CI/CD pipelines along with automated build, testing, and deployment processes.
• Ensure applications adhere to DoD security standards, secure coding practices, and relevant STIG requirements.
• Participate in Agile activities such as sprint planning, stand-ups, backlog refinement, demonstrations, and retrospectives.
• Develop and maintain technical documentation.
• Collaborate with developers, technical leads, QA, DevSecOps, database, infrastructure, and engineering teams.
• Support front-end integration and contribute to Angular components as needed.
• Active Secret Clearance.
• IAT Level II certification (CompTIA Security+ CE preferred).
• At least 3+ years of professional software development experience.
• Strong hands-on experience in developing applications using Java.
• Proficient with Spring Boot, Spring Framework, or similar Java application frameworks.
• Experience in designing, developing, and utilizing RESTful APIs and web services.
• Skilled in developing backend business logic, service-layer components, and application integrations.
• Familiarity with relational databases and SQL.
• Knowledge of object-oriented design, software design principles, and common development patterns.
• Experience in writing unit and integration tests for Java applications.
• Ability to troubleshoot and debug enterprise applications, APIs, and integrations.
• Proficient in using Git or similar source-control tools.
• Experienced in Agile software development environments.
• Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and DevSecOps practices.
• Strong problem-solving, debugging, and analytical skills.
• Capable of working independently while effectively collaborating within a distributed development team.
• Preferred: experience supporting USTRANSCOM, DoD, or other federal mission systems.
• Preferred: experience with Spring Boot-based enterprise applications or microservices.
• Preferred: experience in developing applications using microservices architectures.
• Preferred: experience with AWS, Docker, Kubernetes, messaging, asynchronous processing, enterprise application integration, security scanning tools, GitLab, Jenkins, Jira, Confluence, Angular, TypeScript, HTML, and CSS.
• Active Secret Clearance requirement and IAT Level II certification support the role.
