This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Colorado.
• Deliver advanced technical support to users at the Space Weather Prediction Center (SWPC).
• Diagnose, troubleshoot, and resolve technical issues related to workstations, laptops, mobile devices, and peripherals.
• Address and resolve advanced Service Desk tickets within specified SLAs and customer satisfaction metrics.
• Manage user accounts in Active Directory and Google Workspace, including handling permissions, groups, and multi-factor authentication (MFA).
• Execute client-system and server patching, upgrades, imaging, and Windows configuration management.
• Provision desktops, laptops, and mobile devices, ensuring endpoint security and configuration management agent installation.
• Maintain National Critical Systems and Business Enterprise System desktops, laptops, and telephony platforms to ensure 24/7 operational availability.
• Oversee equipment inventory, including labeling, tracking, receiving, sanitization, decommissioning, and reporting.
• Offer user training and assistance on system access, operating system usage, cybersecurity, and best practices.
• Install and support networked conference-room audiovisual systems, computers, cameras, projection devices, and telephony.
• Collaborate with senior system administrators on network authentication, server troubleshooting, security audits, and compliance.
• Research technical specifications, provide cost estimates, and validate equipment orders for procurement.
• Assist with the physical movement, deployment, and decommissioning of hardware assets.
• Support the Property Manager with inventory tracking and asset audits.
• Adhere to documented technical procedures and complete tasks independently or with general guidance.
• Contribute to operational continuity for the 24/7 space-weather forecasting mission.
• Manage email and endpoint encryption platforms.
• Assist broad IT infrastructure initiatives.
• A Bachelor's degree in atmospheric science, space physics, geophysics, engineering, computer science, or mathematics from an accredited institution.
• A minimum of 3 years of experience in relevant fields.
• Over 3 years of progressively responsible experience delivering IT helpdesk support and systems administration in a Windows environment.
• In-depth knowledge of Windows operating systems, including Windows 10/11 and earlier versions.
• Familiarity with the Microsoft Office Suite.
• Understanding of endpoint configuration management and security tools.
• Experience with endpoint encryption, MFA, and IT security compliance practices.
• Proficient in troubleshooting hardware, software, desktop deployment practices, and network connectivity.
• Knowledgeable in Service Desk trouble-ticketing systems and escalation workflows.
• Strong customer service and communication abilities.
• Capability to assist users ranging from entry-level employees to scientists and senior executives.
• U.S. Citizenship or Green Card Holder status is required.
• U.S. Citizens must have resided in the U.S. for 3-5 years prior to application.
• Desired: experience in supporting IT services in a 24/7 operational environment or within a federal agency.
• Desired: familiarity with NOAA/NWS IT and computing standards, COOP plans, cybersecurity standards, and configuration management requirements.
• Desired: working knowledge of scripting or automation tools for Windows-based IT systems and mobile devices.
• Desired: experience in supporting conference room audiovisual equipment and VOIP telephony.
• Desired: relevant certifications such as CompTIA A+, Network+, Security+, or Microsoft Certified: Modern Desktop Administrator Associate.
