This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California.
• Establish and uphold security protocols without introducing unnecessary procedures.
• Detect and address security vulnerabilities through practical technical interventions.
• Ensure that engineers and researchers apply security measures effectively.
• Take ownership of implementation decisions, such as the approach to two-factor authentication, and articulate the associated trade-offs.
• Collaborate with engineering and research teams to define pragmatic security standards.
• Enforce security protocols while ensuring they remain user-friendly.
• Oversee access management across platforms like Google Workspace, GitHub, AWS, Google Cloud, 1Password, Slack, and Airtable.
• Grant, modify, and revoke access as team members join, transition roles, or depart.
• Hold administrative and ownership positions on essential platforms.
• Manage cloud accounts and software subscriptions, covering projects, IAM, budgets, quotas, seats, licenses, renewals, and nonprofit pricing.
• Oversee the technical components of onboarding and offboarding processes.
• Provide initial technical support for staff accounts and software-related issues.
• Over 5 years of experience in security, DevSecOps, IT operations, or a related field.
• Proven experience managing security in a medium-sized organization.
• Skilled in handling complex technical and research projects, preferably in AI.
• Proficient in collaborating with engineers.
• Experience overseeing IT or security operations across identity, access, endpoints, and cloud environments.
• Extensive knowledge of Google Workspace administration and AWS IAM is highly advantageous.
• Comfortable exercising administrative authority and making access decisions autonomously.
• Familiarity with AI research and Epoch AI is a bonus.
• Professional-level proficiency in English.
• Availability to overlap with UTC−8 and UTC+1 time zones is preferred.
• Willingness to travel for three annual retreats is preferred.
• Annual salary ranging from $125,000 to $155,000 USD.
