IT Engineer II, OT

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Maryland.

📋 Description

• Develop, implement, standardize, and maintain robust manufacturing technology platforms across global facilities.

• Collaborate with Product Management, Product Ownership, Architecture, Cybersecurity, Infrastructure, and Plant Operations teams.

• Oversee the design and deployment of standardized OT solutions, which encompass PLC, HMI, and SCADA systems.

• Assist with MES integration and the establishment of plant-level data frameworks.

• Engage in commissioning, cutover, and hypercare activities.

• Contribute to the creation of global deployment playbooks.

• Promote the standardization and lifecycle management of industrial automation platforms, including those from Siemens, Rockwell Automation, and Schneider Electric.

• Facilitate organized patching and upgrade cycles while minimizing technical debt in legacy plant environments.

• Offer technical insights for product backlogs and pinpoint automation opportunities to enhance performance and reduce costs.

• Suggest architectural improvements based on feedback from plants.

• Assist pilot initiatives funded by Transform, encompassing predictive maintenance.

• Implement designs for high availability and failover in critical systems.

• Aid in backup and disaster recovery strategies for PLC configurations, SCADA servers, and historian systems.

• Contribute to the reduction of mean time to repair (MTTR).

• Collaborate with Site Reliability Engineers to enhance observability and alerting mechanisms.

• Maintain ongoing personal learning and development.

• Execute additional responsibilities as assigned by the Supervisor.

⛳️ Requirements

• A Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Industrial Automation, Computer Engineering, or a related field.

• 6-9 years of experience in manufacturing OT environments.

• Exceptional communication skills and a strong desire to foster open collaboration within a dynamic team.

• Practical experience with PLC and SCADA systems.

• Knowledge of industrial networking concepts such as VLANs, network segmentation, and firewalls.

• Understanding of principles related to high availability and disaster recovery.

• Familiarity with cybersecurity best practices applicable in industrial settings.

• Willingness to travel to manufacturing sites (25–40%).
