IT Automation Specialist – 6 Months Contract

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Design and execute Infrastructure as Code (IaC) solutions utilizing Terraform and OpenTofu for both cloud and on-premises infrastructure provisioning.

• Create and sustain Ansible playbooks and roles for managing configurations, deploying applications, and performing system patching across diverse environments.

• Architect and enhance Ansible Tower/AWX deployments for large-scale automation, which includes RBAC, credential management, and workflow orchestration.

• Spearhead the integration of agentic AI capabilities to streamline decision-making processes and minimize manual operational workloads.

• Set up automation best practices, standards, and frameworks; conduct code evaluations for infrastructure automation initiatives.

• Diagnose and resolve intricate automation challenges; provide technical documentation to facilitate knowledge transfer to other teams.

• Integrate automation solutions with CI/CD pipelines, monitoring systems, and ticketing platforms.

• Document technical architecture, operational runbooks, and procedures for all automation systems.

• Assess and propose new automation tools and technologies that enhance efficiency and mitigate operational risks.

• Collaborate with cross-functional teams (Cloud, Infrastructure, Security) to incorporate automation throughout IT operations.

• Promote repeatability, decrease manual toil, and enable self-service capabilities across infrastructure.

• Influence the efficiency of infrastructure service delivery to clients.

⛳️ Requirements

• A minimum of 5 years of experience in IT infrastructure and systems administration.

• Expert-level skills in Terraform and/or OpenTofu; proven capability to manage complex infrastructure states.

• Advanced proficiency in Ansible; demonstrated experience in designing and maintaining Ansible Tower or AWX in production settings.

• Strong programming skills in Python; ability to develop custom modules, plugins, and automation scripts.

• In-depth understanding of DevOps principles, CI/CD pipelines, and best practices for infrastructure-as-code.

• Experience with public cloud platforms (Azure, GCP) as well as hybrid/on-premises infrastructure.

• Familiarity with version control systems (Git) and collaborative development workflows.

• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills, with a proven track record in resolving production incidents.

• Excellent communication abilities; adept at conveying complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or equivalent professional experience.

• Practical experience in implementing and managing agentic AI solutions for IT operations automation.

• Knowledge of advanced features in Ansible Tower (workflows, dynamic inventory, LDAP/SAML integration).

• Familiarity with configuration management databases (CMDB) and integrations with ServiceNow.

• Understanding of GitOps methodologies and tools (ArgoCD, Flux).

• Relevant certifications such as HashiCorp Certified Terraform Associate, Ansible Specialist, or equivalent cloud/infrastructure certifications.

• Contributions to open-source projects or demonstrated thought leadership in the infrastructure automation community.

• Proficiency in Terraform, OpenTofu, CloudFormation.

• Expertise in Ansible, Ansible Tower, AWX.

• Knowledge of LLM orchestration, AI-driven automation, and prompt engineering.

• Skills in Python, Bash, Go, HCL.

• Experience with AWS, Azure, GCP, and hybrid infrastructure.
