IP Network Engineer I

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Minnesota.

📋 Description

• Assist in the implementation, upkeep, and functioning of IP/MPLS network infrastructure.

• Aid in the testing and validation of network technologies and configurations in both lab and production settings.

• Engage in network upgrades, deployments, and documentation activities.

• Diagnose network issues and collaborate with senior engineers to resolve intricate problems.

• Partner with network operations and engineering teams to ensure the delivery of reliable and scalable network services.

• Monitor network performance and help identify areas for enhancement.

⛳️ Requirements

• 4-5 years of experience in networking, telecommunications, ISP, or carrier Ethernet settings.

• Basic understanding of IP networking concepts and principles of network engineering.

• Practical experience with routers and switches, ideally on the Nokia/Alcatel platform.

• Familiarity with routing protocols like BGP, OSPF, or IS-IS.

• Knowledge of MPLS concepts and carrier networking technologies.

• Understanding of Layer 2 technologies such as VLANs, STP, and LACP.

• Strong analytical and troubleshooting abilities.

• Capacity to work remotely and collaboratively in a team-focused environment.

• Willingness to learn new technologies and advance within a network engineering career.

• Preferred: Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field.

• Preferred: Nokia NRS I certification or other entry-level networking certifications (CCNA, JNCIA, etc.).

• Preferred: Experience with data center networking and transport technologies such as fiber, microwave, or cellular networks.

• Preferred: Background in a service provider or telecommunications environment.

• Availability to work Monday through Friday, 40 hours per week, during standard daytime hours in the Alaska time zone.
