Infrastructure Engineer – Network Automation

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Illinois, +3 more states.

📋 Description

• Design, implement, maintain, and provide support for enterprise network infrastructure across branch, campus, data center, and cloud environments.

• Develop and sustain network automation solutions utilizing Ansible, Python, Bash, Terraform, PowerShell, Network as Code, and GitHub/Git workflows.

• Create reusable scripts, playbooks, workflows, and automation pipelines for network provisioning, configuration management, compliance validation, and operational tasks.

• Integrate network systems and tools through APIs and automation frameworks.

• Configure, troubleshoot, and enhance routing, switching, firewall, and wireless infrastructure.

• Monitor network performance, availability, and capacity; proactively identify and resolve issues.

• Implement infrastructure monitoring, alerting, and optimization strategies for high availability and performance.

• Engage in network architecture planning, modernization initiatives, and infrastructure lifecycle management.

• Collaborate with cybersecurity, systems engineering, cloud, and application teams.

• Maintain technical documentation, standards, diagrams, procedures, and runbooks in Confluence.

• Utilize Jira to manage tasks, projects, change requests, sprint activities, and operational workflows.

• Support change management, incident response, disaster recovery, and business continuity initiatives.

• Ensure network infrastructure complies with banking security, compliance, and regulatory requirements.

• Adhere to enterprise policies, applicable laws and regulations, Bank Secrecy Act requirements, suspicious activity reporting, customer complaint reporting, procedure violation reporting, and ethical concern reporting.

⛳️ Requirements

• Associate’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent work experience.

• At least 2 years of experience in enterprise network engineering or infrastructure operations.

• Strong understanding of TCP/IP, BGP, OSPF, VLANs, STP, DNS, DHCP, VPN technologies, and routing and switching concepts.

• Practical experience with network automation and scripting using Python, Bash, PowerShell, or Ansible.

• Familiarity with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) and Network as Code methodologies.

• Knowledge of Terraform and API integrations for infrastructure automation.

• Experience with GitHub or similar version control platforms for managing infrastructure and automation code.

• Preferred: industry certifications such as CCNA/CCNP, Network+, DevNet, or AWS/Azure networking certifications.

• Preferred: experience with SD-WAN, cloud networking, or hybrid infrastructure environments.

• Preferred: understanding of CI/CD pipelines for infrastructure deployments.

• Preferred: experience with firewall platforms and network security technologies.
