This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Virginia.
• Review, prioritize, process, and log incoming mail and emails from clients, foreign associates, opposing counsel, and the USPTO.
• Initiate new matters and establish and maintain electronic files.
• Verify that incoming documents are complete and adhere to USPTO requirements and MG-IP procedures.
• Assist in the patent prosecution process through administrative and docketing tasks.
• Draft client correspondence and prepare invoices.
• Create reports and manage spreadsheets and databases.
• Edit documents for accuracy and clarity.
• Prepare and submit documents to the USPTO.
• Ensure compliance with USPTO regulations and MG-IP policies and procedures.
• Participate in special projects and other firm initiatives as required.
• Minimum of 2 years of general experience in intellectual property.
• Familiarity with the patent prosecution process is essential.
• Basic knowledge of USPTO rules, procedures, formalities, and deadlines.
• Excellent organizational and written communication skills.
• Strong proofreading abilities and keen attention to detail.
• Capable of working independently and managing multiple priorities.
• Ability to thrive under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
• Proficient in computer applications, including Chrome and Microsoft Office.
• Capability to lift and carry a minimum of 20 lbs.
• High school diploma or GED equivalent is required.
• Previous experience in patent docketing is preferred but not mandatory.
• Experience in trademark docketing is advantageous but not obligatory; willingness to learn is essential.
