This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in New York.
• Develop, update, assess, and troubleshoot intricate Excel-based financial and transaction models.
• Utilize valuation techniques in various scenarios involving acquisitions, sales, and strategic transactions.
• Examine assumptions, sensitivities, and accounting treatments, and evaluate their effect on model outcomes.
• Assess financial models for methodological precision, logical coherence, and numerical soundness.
• Detect and rectify errors impacting transaction analysis or valuation findings.
• Carry out company and industry research to support transaction and strategic evaluations.
• Execute buyer screening, target screening, comparable company analysis, and associated research tasks.
• Analyze industry trends, company positioning, transaction context, and market data.
• Link research insights to valuation, transaction rationale, and strategic deductions.
• Conduct and evaluate valuation analyses, including comparable company assessments.
• Assess valuation adjustments, transaction sensitivities, and accounting factors.
• Inspect transaction documents for numerical discrepancies, flawed logic, or unsubstantiated conclusions.
• Offer clear and actionable feedback to enhance analytical quality and consistency.
• Create and refine investment banking presentations, pitchbooks, and client materials.
• Clearly and professionally outline transaction narratives and strategic reasoning.
• Review materials to meet senior banker and client quality benchmarks.
• Accurately convey analytical findings and clarify complex financial concepts to both specialist and general professional audiences.
• Leverage investment banking expertise in AI training and financial analysis processes.
• Previous experience as a Senior Associate, ideally in the third year, Vice President, or equivalent investment banking role.
• Experience within an M&A team, industry coverage group, reputable M&A boutique, or sector-specific advisory firm.
• Significant hands-on experience with live acquisition, sale, or other transaction processes.
• Proven history of producing high-quality analytical work and client-facing materials.
• Advanced skills in Excel modeling, including troubleshooting, scenario analysis, and sensitivity assessments.
• Direct involvement in company and industry research, target screening, comparable company evaluations, and pitchbook creation.
• Strong grasp of valuation methods, accounting treatments, transaction adjustments, and deal sensitivities.
• Demonstrated capability to produce and review materials that meet senior banker or client expectations.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong analytical judgment, problem-solving skills, and meticulous attention to detail.
• Ability to identify and articulate quantitative inaccuracies, strategic shortcomings, and unfounded assumptions.
• No prior experience in AI research or model training is necessary.
• All work must be conducted without the use of confidential or proprietary information belonging to any employer, client, institution, company, transaction party, or other third party.
• Part-time independent contractor arrangement.
