Investment Accounting Intern

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Illinois.

📋 Description

• Collaborate with colleagues to gain insights into investment accounting processes, industry regulations, and financial reporting standards.

• Assist in data entry, validation, and upkeep of the investment subledger database.

• Prepare monthly and quarterly workpapers along with supporting documentation for financial reporting and account reconciliations.

• Aid in the pre/post implementation and continuous enhancement of the Singularity investment accounting system through testing, data validation, and process documentation.

• Engage in quality control measures by confirming the accuracy and completeness of investment accounting data.

• Analyze data from the new system to enhance data organization and establish controls and reporting efficiencies.

• Perform basic analysis of account balances and variances, documenting findings for review by senior team members.

• Assist in cash balancing activities, which includes researching suspense transactions, account reconciliations, and preparing financial reporting schedules.

⛳️ Requirements

• Progress towards a bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field.

• Must be a rising junior or rising senior.

• Anticipated graduation date should be between December 2027 and June 2029.

• Availability to work 40 hours per week for 10–12 weeks during the summer is required.

• Preferred location in the Central or Eastern US time zone, or willingness to work within Central or Eastern time zone business hours.

• Must currently have unrestricted authorization to work in the United States.

• The company does not plan to sponsor work visas for this position or future full-time employment opportunities.

• Prior internship experience is preferred.

• Preference for candidates balancing education with a part-time job during the academic year.

• Demonstrated interest in investments, financial markets, and investment accounting through coursework, projects, internships, or extracurricular activities is preferred.

• Hands-on experience with AI and desktop data visualization/business intelligence tools such as Power BI, Tableau, or advanced Excel is preferred.

• Participation in university clubs is preferred.
