Internal Tools Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Poland, +1 more country.

📋 Description

• Take ownership of the internal platform utilized by operations, finance, and delivery teams.

• Familiarize yourself with existing systems, document them thoroughly, and ensure they are reliable and not reliant on any single individual.

• Develop data capture and reporting mechanisms to provide leadership with access to essential business metrics.

• Transition workflow processes from spreadsheets to platform systems, addressing one workflow at a time.

• Identify significant business constraints and prioritize the most impactful solutions.

• Deliver concise weekly written updates, including clear timelines and proactive alerts about any potential delays.

• Collaborate directly with the founder, bypassing management layers.

⛳️ Requirements

• You have served as the engineer an operations team relied upon, preferably in an early-stage startup where you constructed the internal systems that the company depended on.

• You possess strong writing skills, capable of articulating a technical trade-off to a non-technical audience in a single paragraph, and your status updates are concise, specific, and punctual.

• Your mindset is more operations-oriented than engineering-focused; you prefer implementing straightforward solutions that save significant time over more complex ones that yield no benefits.

• You have a diverse skill set: application development, integration of third-party tools, data modeling, and sufficient infrastructure knowledge to maintain your own projects.

• You are proficient with AI tools and leverage them to operate at an accelerated pace.

• You demonstrate genuine autonomy and reliability while working remotely, setting your own priorities, following through on tasks, and identifying issues before they escalate.

• You manage sensitive data and financial workflows with care and discretion.

• Bonus: Experience in taking over an undocumented system from a departing engineer and ensuring its reliability.

• Bonus: Background in operations-intensive businesses such as logistics, field services, fintech onboarding, marketplaces, or financial workflows.
