Internal Tools Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Pennsylvania.

📋 Description

• Take ownership of the internal platform utilized daily by operations, finance, and delivery teams.

• Acquire knowledge, document processes, and stabilize current systems to ensure they are not reliant on any individual.

• Develop data capture and reporting mechanisms to enhance visibility of key business metrics using agreed-upon definitions.

• Transition spreadsheet-based workflows to platform systems incrementally, focusing on one workflow at a time.

• Identify and eliminate operational bottlenecks by prioritizing work that yields the highest impact.

• Provide concise weekly written updates, indicating clear timelines and proactively addressing risks or delays.

• Collaborate directly with the founder, without intermediaries.

⛳️ Requirements

• You have served as the engineer that an operations team relied on; ideally, you were part of an early-stage startup and developed the internal systems that the company operated on.

• Excellent writing skills; capable of articulating technical trade-offs to non-technical audiences and delivering concise, specific, and timely status updates.

• An operations-focused mindset, emphasizing solutions that significantly save time.

• Experience in application development, third-party integrations, data modeling, and sufficient infrastructure to sustain your own work.

• Proficient use of AI tools to enhance productivity beyond the normal pace.

• True autonomy and dependability in a remote working environment.

• Ability to manage sensitive data and financial workflows with discretion and care.

• Bonus: experience in taking over and making undocumented systems reliable.

• Bonus: background in operations-intensive sectors such as logistics, field services, fintech onboarding, or marketplaces.

• Bonus: familiarity with payments, reconciliation, or multi-account financial tools.
